Drama unfolded at the Saket Metro station on Friday evening when a 25-year-old man got down on the tracks and ran almost 900 metres across the tunnel up to the next station, Malviya Nagar, where he was caught by the Central Industrial Security Force commandos.
Officers said the man was fined at Saket Metro station for travelling in ladies coach, after which he got on the tracks and tried to run away. Officers said that the man appeared to be mentally unstable and is under treatment at a hospital. Police said they have not filed any case and have informed the family members.

video of the incident where the man is seen bleeding from his face and chest has gone viral on social media.
A senior CISF officer, who is not authorised to speak to the media, said that the man fell a few times and hurt himself when he was inside the tunnel, as there was no light.
According to the CISF, Amit Kumar, a resident of Malviya Nagar, was caught travelling in ladies coach at 8.15 pm on Friday at Saket Metro station after which he was brought to the station control room and was fined for Rs250 by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
“He was released after imposing a penalty. This was when he got onto the tracks and started running towards Malviya Nagar Metro station which is the next station from Saket. He was caught at Malviya Nagar Metro station where he was questioned by the Delhi Metro Rail Police officers. He could not explain his motives clearly and appeared to be of unsound mind,” the officer said.
Social media tweets and posts, however, read that, “accused of ‘stealing’, the man was ruthlessly beaten by DMRC employees along with commuters”.
Deputy commissioner of police (metro) Deepak Gauri said no such complaint was received. “We did not receive any complaints from the commuters regarding any theft neither from the victim that he was thrashed. His father was informed and he was handed over to his family without any FIR against him. Family informed that the man is under treatment at Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini,” the DCP said.

@all: While we do nominally allow multiple IDs, these multiple IDs are NOT allowed to engage in misuse and "mischief". Voting multiple times in the same poll using multiple IDs, rating each other IDs' blogs using multiple IDs, etc. are classified as "gross misuse". . This is an advance notice that some of the...
