JAIPUR: Jaipur Metro revenue collection is finally coming on track. After the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC), implemented its policy to provide Metro on rent, the corporation earned revenue for the first time.
Official informed, on June 2, JMRC rented out Metro for an advertisement film shoot. The cash-strapped JMRC is now filling its coffers after renting out stations and trains for the two-hour shooting or celebration, after the operation is closed.
Akin to the Jaipur Metro film policy, the JMRC policy covers nine stations between Chandpole and Mansarovar under which it will
charge Rs 1 lakh for two hours for shooting inside Metro Train, while the same amount is to be paid if one wants to shoot inside a Metro station.
The JMRC official believes, as the fee is nominal it would attract more takers in future. A JMRC official said, “The film makers from other part of the country are expected to come in large number in future as rent fixed is much lesser than other cities and metros.”
Permitting film shooting is JMRC’s alternative revenue generation model, since the income from the sale of tickets is insufficient for the metro’s operation and maintenance. “Over the past two financial years, JMRC has earned revenue of Rs 19 crore and suffered an operational loss of Rs 46 crore. Out of this, Rs 45 crore was provided to JMRC by the state government through the Rajasthan Transport Infrastructure Development Fund,” added an official.

@all: At this time, the PNR Forum is functioning again, albeit at a greatly reduced volume and efficiency. Refreshing PNRs is a very cumbersome affair. We may expect this to end as well, eventually, as the Govt. tightens these controls further. At IRI, we CANNOT waste any more time on this fruitless...
