These self-drive automatic cars can be rented through a mobile app simply by submitting your driver’s licence; likely to be a big hit among techies, say officials.

HYDERABAD: IN a first, the Hyderabad metro rail in association with Zoomcar has launched an electric car rental service from the Miyapur Metro Station. The 25-car strong fleet will be available for a ride along the metro corridor, where power grid is setting up charging stations. The facility

will be extended to the airport and other localities in the near future. These cars can be booked on rental basis using an app. What more, they cost just `40 an hour. The booking can be done by submitting a driver’s licence. Alternately, you can also rent it for a whole month by paying `10,000. Interestingly, cars taken on monthly rentals can be dropped off at stations when not being used. This way, a part of the rental cost can be recovered when the vehicle is not being used.
The vehicles operate on lithium ion batteries and take about 90 minutes for full charging. “The facility will be a big boost for IT employees as it will improve the last-mile connectivity between offices and the Metro station,” said HMRL managing director NVS Reddy. “Hyderabad has become the first city in the country to have this set up. We do not want our city to turn into a gas chamber like Delhi. If we can improve shared mobility we can have fewer cars on the road,” he added.
“We will also be setting up multi-level car parking facilities and ensure that these car parks have all basic facilities a person would require. So far 42 properties have been acquired for metro related works,” said Reddy. We are also providing opportunities to private people, where HMRL will act as the nodal agency and use the land for metro related works but the ownership of the land will remain with the original owner.”

If you pee at a Metro station, it will now turn into bio-fertiliser! Hyderabad: HMRL will set up odourless urinals at metro stations that will convert the urine into biofertilizer on an experimental basis. The three urinal set up at Miyapur metro rail station costs `3 lakh, if the experiment is successful then 30 more will be set up along the metro rail corridor. The odourless urinal through a bio-fertilisation process was developed by Subash Patil, a visually challenged scientist from Pune. The process separates the water and breaks down the ammonia and urea components of urine.  The “Three in one flower model” urinal was designed by one Bhupathi Reddy who build the first model at Miyapur five months ago. A single such urinal can save 1.3 lakh litre of water

@all: At this time, the PNR Forum is functioning again, albeit at a greatly reduced volume and efficiency. Refreshing PNRs is a very cumbersome affair. We may expect this to end as well, eventually, as the Govt. tightens these controls further. At IRI, we CANNOT waste any more time on this fruitless...

@all: The PNR Forum as we know it is OVER. The official website has unilaterally decided to thoroughly block and shut down all access to PNR info. We had put in MANY, many years of PAINSTAKING effort to develop the PNR Prediction infrastructure, and our Sr. Legendary Members have helped countless people...

There are some minor changes to the PNR Forum: 1. The main PNR feed will only show UN-predicted (by you) PNRs which are coming in. However, if there are replies, the PNR will show and will bubble to the top. Once you predict the PNR, it will go away from the main...
