The process of launching electrification work along the Alwar-Rewari and Rewari-Hissar sections is in the advanced stage, however, proposal for electrifaction of the Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur section found to be non-viable,North West Railway (NWR) General Manager RC Agrawal said.
Addressing a press conference here today Mr Agrawal said that the electification from Alwar to Hissar via Rewari was under the vital consideration of the railway board as initial indicators and norms were favourable. He, however, said that survey conducted for similar work along Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur section indicated that non-availability of adequate power infrastructure beyond Jaipur along the route and lack of prospects in rise of revneue and passenger traffic did make the project non-viable for now. rail network strengthening and modernisation and said that works on new lines, gauge concersion and upgrading/face lifting of stations were progressing well. Mr Agrawal said that work on 31.4 KM Ajmer-Pushkar new rail line was in the final stage, track linking had been completed, engine rolling had also been done but the works on Pushkar railway station was in progress and that would be competed by March this year. Work on seven new lines was also in progress, he said. Gauge conversion on Mavli-Nathdwara and Bikaner-Ratangarh sections was also advancing well and due to be completed by March 31 this year, he said adding that barring 218 Km stretch, gauge conversion on the remaining rail net work had either being done or the work was going on at different stages. Double tracking on 193 Km stretch had been achieved so far and the work on
seven sections was going on, he said. On modernisation drive, efforts for upgrading Jaipur railway station as world class station were being undertaken and Durgapur station in the state capital was proposed to be developed as Modern Tourist Station. Likewise, 32 stations under the NWR were shortlisted for transforming as Model Stations, 38 others as modern stations and six stations were being developed as Adarsh Stations.
