It was a lucky escape for a 66-year-old woman who was stopped from being pulled into the gap between a train and platform. The woman fell from a local train which had started running at Dadar railway station, as she lost her balance and slipped off. She was saved by an RPF inspector from being pulled into the gap between the train and platform.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the incident took place on Saturday at Dadar railway station’s platform number 6, when Badlapur resident Jyoti Dhanderkar and her daughter, Gauri (22) were trying to board a CSMT-bound fast local train. Gauri told the leading daily, “Though we were headed to Badlapur, we knew trains in that direction would be packed if we
tried to board one from Dadar. So we decided to go to CSMT to board an empty train.”
After Gauri got in the train her mother only managed to grab the pole of the entrance and couldn’t find a foothold. Seeing a PS Yadav, inspector of RPF post at Diva got down from the train and saw that the elderly woman was running while she held the pole. When the train started picking up speed, she fell and was about to slip into the gap when he managed to grab her and pull her away.
Gauri also tried to jump from the running train after seeing her mother slip off but was stopped by other passengers, and then she got off at Byculla and returned to Dadar. By then, her mother who had recently undergone an operation to remove a tumour in the brain, had blacked out after the fall. She was later rushed to the emergency room where she was being given first aid.

@all: At this time, the PNR Forum is functioning again, albeit at a greatly reduced volume and efficiency. Refreshing PNRs is a very cumbersome affair. We may expect this to end as well, eventually, as the Govt. tightens these controls further. At IRI, we CANNOT waste any more time on this fruitless...
