Nagpur: New trains connecting important cities, more stoppages, extensions, and regularization of weekly and bi-weekly trains were on the wishlist of MPs from the region during a meeting with top Central Railway (CR) officials on Monday.
There were two rounds of meetings of MPs whose constituencies were part of Bhusawal division and others from Vidarbha and adjoining Madhya Pradesh. The demands were discussed with general manager DK Sharma, Bhusawal, and Nagpur DRMs RK Yadav and Somesh Kumar, respectively, among other top officials.
Wardha MP Ramdas Tadas and Rajya Sabha member Vikas Mahatme wanted
railways to start a new intercity express between Bhopal-Nagpur and Nagpur-Ballarshah and Aurangabad. They demanded to regularize tri-weekly 22111/22112 Nagpur-Bhusawal Express (via Itarsi).
Similar demand to start an intercity between Akola-Nagpur was made by Akola MP Sanjay Dhotre, Buldhana MP Prataprao Pawar, and Amravati MP Anandrao Adsul.
Tadas said there is huge traffic to Indore and 12914/12924 Nagpur-Indore and 12913/12923 Indore-Nagpur Express be operated on all days. “Currently, entire business to Indore is being encashed by private bus operators,” he added.
MP from Betul Jyoti Dhurve wanted the Narkhed-Amravati intercity be extended to Betul. She also wanted better amenities at busy Betul station and demanded to shift goods godown in the centre of the city at Maramziri station.
Tadas said Wardha station has national importance and wanted that 12906/12905 Howrah-Porbandar Express gets stoppage here. “Owing to many students travelling to Pune for education, Nagpur-Pune Garib Rath needs to be stopped at Dhamangaon,” he said.
On the infrastructure projects, Tadas pushed to expedite work on third and fourth lines between Nagpur-Wardha-Ballarshah and Wardha-Nanded and also wanted narrow gauge track between Pulgaon-Arvi to be upgraded into broad gauge.
The Wardha MP demanded stoppage to Nagpur-Secunderabad-Nagpur Express at Hinganghat. Among his other demands were stoppage to Maharashtra Express at Sindhi Railway and Tuljapur and Kazipeth-Pune Express at Chandur Railway.
Mahatme wanted that Nagpur-Mumbai trains be given a brief halt at Butibori as many people work at MIDC. Adsul demanded to increase reservation quota in Amravati-Mumbai Express.
Among the host of other passenger amenities that MPs wanted included toilets, more ticket booking and reservation counters, development of stations, increase in general coaches for unreserved passengers etcSharma promised to take the demands of MPs with the Railway Board.

@all: At this time, the PNR Forum is functioning again, albeit at a greatly reduced volume and efficiency. Refreshing PNRs is a very cumbersome affair. We may expect this to end as well, eventually, as the Govt. tightens these controls further. At IRI, we CANNOT waste any more time on this fruitless...

There are some minor changes to the PNR Forum: 1. The main PNR feed will only show UN-predicted (by you) PNRs which are coming in. However, if there are replies, the PNR will show and will bubble to the top. Once you predict the PNR, it will go away from the main...
