PATNA: Bharat bandh supporters paralysed the movement of trains at different places in the Danapur, Mughalsarai, Sonepur and Samastipur divisions of the East Central Railway (ECR) to protest against the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on Thursday.
Around 50 passenger trains were forcibly stopped and detained by bandh supporters since Thursday morning, causing hardship to passengers. “However, no damage to railway property was reported from any division under the jurisdiction of the ECR during the daylong Bharat bandh,” said ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar.

passenger trains at 17 places in the Danapur division alone. “While some forcibly stopped trains in Barh, Punarakh and Mokama on the Patna-Jhajha section at 9am, others blocked the movement of trains on the Kiul-Jhjaha section from 7.50am to 11am,” the CPRO said, adding railway security men had to intervene to get the tracks cleared.
Three pairs of passenger trains were also stopped at Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Danapur station from 9.10am to 11.10am. Kumar said, “The worst affected stations from 7.10am to 11.30am were Karota Patri Halt, Sheikhpura, Warisaliganj, Kashichak, Nawada, Tilaiya, Wazirganj, Rajgir and Nalanda.”
Besides, bandh supporters forcibly detained passenger trains at five different stations of the Sonepur division from 8.40am to 11.35am. They squatted on the tracks and did not allow trains to pass on the Muzaffarpur-Hajipur and Barauni-Katihar routes.
Similarly, the movement of trains was hit at nine stations of the Samastipur division since early morning. The Darbhanga-Samastipur, Raxaul-Sitamarhi, Samastipur-Khagaria, Saharsa-Mansi, Muzaffarpur-Panihwan, Darbhanga-Jayanagar and Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi sections of the division were badly affected from 9.46am to 12.45pm. At least 17 long distance passenger and few goods trains were detained by the agitators.
The protesters detained five long distance express trains at four major stations on the Mughasarai-Sone Nagar, Sone Nagar-Manpur, Sone Nagar-Garhwa and Sasaram-Ara routes in the Mughalsarai division of the ECR for about two hours from 10.30am to 12.40pm.

@all: At this time, the PNR Forum is functioning again, albeit at a greatly reduced volume and efficiency. Refreshing PNRs is a very cumbersome affair. We may expect this to end as well, eventually, as the Govt. tightens these controls further. At IRI, we CANNOT waste any more time on this fruitless...

There are some minor changes to the PNR Forum: 1. The main PNR feed will only show UN-predicted (by you) PNRs which are coming in. However, if there are replies, the PNR will show and will bubble to the top. Once you predict the PNR, it will go away from the main...
