who were posted at the gates of Joda Phatak crossing on that fateful evening. He said he was asked to take up the duty by his seniors on Sunday. He added that another gatekeeper has also been deployed at the second gate. The gatekeeper defended his colleagues. “The tracks are for trains and not for people.” Meanwhile RPF personnel continued to be deployed for security at Joda Phatak.A RPF officer, G V Singh, said the RPF personnel will continue to be deployed at Phatak till the time the situation turns normal.A Railway official at Joda Phatak said that since the protestors had damaged the electronic barrier system at the north and south end of the railway crossing, the work of the gatekeepers has increased. According to him, the gatekeepers have to put chains on either side to block the vehicles from crossing each time a train passes through Phatak.
