I am rather very much at a loss to understand as to why the Elevators installed at the Bangalore City Railway (SBC) Station with Indian Railways funds are not operated for months. Even the newly installed one which I saw with garlands over it's door on 28th April when I was travelling to Chennai, was not in service apart from the other elevators. These elevators were of and would be great help for all Senior Citizens and differently abled persons.
In fact, I still recall the other day when I was travelling to Mangalore some time in January, the plight of an old man with highly disbaled leg struggling to climb up the stairs the platform.
Is...
more... it not shameful that we as Indians some of whom excel in Western countries, althopugh capable of doing great things, show such diplorable attitude wghen it comes to maintaining service and extending help to the Senior Citizens and differently abled persons.
I recall some time back a news paper report or announcement, I think by Indian Railways that Bangalore City Railway Station would be made "World Class" My fisrt recaction was nothing but a scorn!
I always believe, India is far far away from respicting and caring Senior Citizens and differently abled people!
How unfortunate, so much funds wasted away, perhaps to fill up some pockets?
