TRAIN HISTORY
It was introduced in the year 1995 as a weekly Express train between Nanded and Amritsar. The train was made biweekly and upgraded to its present superfast status in the year 1997 followed by Five days a week in 1998. In the year 2006-2007 the train was declared to be daily operational.
The train is treated as a holy Train and majority of the people use this train for pilgrimage. Locals in Nanded, Manmad, Bhopal, Gwalior, Delhi and Bhusaval serve langar (free food) in each compartment of the train regardless of...
more... the religion of the travelers.
The langar was started first in Nanded by local Sikh businessmen but then it was taken over by the Gurudwara.
There is free pickup and drop off facility from Gurudwara Langar Sahib and Gurudwara Sachkhand everyday for this train and all the other major trains arriving and leaving Hazur Sahib Nanded Station.
Railway station langar cooked from Veerji da Dera at Tilak Nagar in West Delhi is served in the train.People from Dera distribute the food to all pilgrimages returning after visit to holy city of tenth master.
