Now a days the new rakes of Metro Rail across the country are being imported from China. Do you support it?
**Pic Courtesy: The Metro Rail Guy. A model chinese rake has been shown. Actual rakes may look different from the model shown.

Actually what you have said what people would counter is true... The rakes which are made in India are not upto the standards, and also are facing many technical problems. An ICF rake recently caught fire in Kolkata metro prompting investigations... Hopefully he ICF engineers would find the technical problems and get the rakes better. Furthermore the rakes coming from China are quite cheap compared to the ones from Europe or even from India. These metro services are independently managed after construction, hence the actual and maintenance charges also come into play to keep the ticket prices down, both of which are advantageous to the CRRC Rolling stocks. We should encourage Indian products, but unfortunately none of the independent entities would buy them if they have better products available in market. Kolkata metro bought the ICF rakes because during the time of purchase it was a part of IR. Now after...

Though we have relatively lesser number of votes, the trend is adequate to declare the result since 94% members have voted against. My only question to those who have voted against- do you have objection only against importing rakes from China or you have objection in importing these rakes from foreign countries overall?

I missed your post earlier and today only saw it. Yes, you are correct on one part, ICF rakes are not good enough. As we all know recently a person died at Kolkata Metro because the rake door didn't shut properly.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
