MUMBAI: A railway ticket booking scam has come to the fore during the peak holiday season. Western Railway officials found 59 tatkal tickets costing Rs 2.40 lakh being booked by touts in a "fishy and fraudulent" manner just a day before the date of journey.
The tickets were then sent to Mumbai by air such that they reached just in time for passengers in Mumbai to board the outstation trains.
These tickets were, of course, sold at exorbitant rates. Most tickets were for Godan Express, Saket Express besides others which ply up north.
