JAMMU, Dec 15: In a significant decision aimed at further promotion of tourism in the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and boost inter-State rail connectivity, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal today reportedly agreed to run regular train serves on Jammu-Amritsar-Chandigarh route, which was also a long pending demand of the local people as, hitherto, Katra-Chandigarh train runs twice a week.
Goyal, who was on a day’s visit to Jammu, his first after J&K became a Union Territory on October 31, reviewed progress of Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) and directed top brass of the Railways to ensure that the project is completed at the earliest.
Most probably overnight.. but wont be benefitted..
It will have less end to end pax if not run upto katra, if it runs only till jammu then it will be use by intermediate pax
You are right...in case it doesn't run up to Katra it might not be as fruitful... even then intermediate stations will ensure occupancy for this train. There are 8 (CDG/SASN, LDH, JUC, BEAS, ASR, BAT, GSP, PTK) big stations enroute and couple of them are not connected to state capital at all by rail. It will be first connectivity between them
It cd be thrice a week intercity type if its till JAT only..
It can run 6 days week as follows uptill Katra
The best timings would be
CDG - 18.35
LDH - 20.36 20.46
BAT, GSP will get first time connectivity to state capital. Its high time railway think of connecting all left over towns of Haryana as well to Chadigarh. Even after 50 years of creation of haryana many of Cities of haryana are poorly or not connected with rest of India. Even whole big dist of Sirsa, Hisar, fathehabad are not connected to state capital.
