Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala manufactured and rolled out the first rake of High Capacity LHB Parcel Van. This 16 Coacher Parcel Van was dispatched in the presence of former RCF General Manager Satya Prakash Trivedi and current General Manager Ravinder Gupta. In this rake, four parcel van alloted to South Western Railway, East Central Railway and Western Railway, three for Eastern Railway and one parcel van for North Eastern Railway. These Parcel Vans will be attached with high-speed Premium/Superfast trains, this will make it possible to send the parcel goods faster.
Before rolling out rake from RCF, former GM Trivedi and General Manager Gupta inspected these coaches and expressed happiness over the quality. The Rail Coach Factory has built the Indian Railways'
First High Capacity LHB parcel Van with a total carrying capacity of 24 tons and a speed of 130 kmph. Rajesh Aggarwal, Member of Rolling Stock, Traffic Member of Railway Board Purnendu S. Mishra and General Manager Ravinder Gupta of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala inspected this High Capacity Parcel Van at Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station on 30 January, 2020. After that first rake was sent to various Railway Zones.
Foldable Two Tier Gauge rakes have been provided to carry wide luggage in the parcel van. These coaches have three opening and closing parts and four sliding doors. The van has 32 foldable 2 tier luggage rakes for small parcels. The interior panel of the compartment is fully stainless steel and is fitted with 140 kN air suspension with anti-climbing CBC Coupler with axle mounted disc-brakes and transition screw couplings.
There are also fire balls in the compartment to extinguish the fire. The compartment is assembled by the fact that it can be added to any position, anywhere in the front, back or middle of the rake. Ravinder Gupta, General Manager, said that this is the first coach designed, built and rolled out within a year. RCF is in the process of building around 100 such parcel vans during the current financial year. The parcel van will generate revenue for the railways through the parcel traffic trade. On this occasion, all department head officers and employees were present.
