There is pressure from N. India to Rameswaram as it is a major destination as we see in the years a few weekilies have been introduced like Ajmer - Rameswaram , Banaras - Rameswaram etc

Also the link trains that got cancelled could be reintroduced which would be useful

Tuticorin - Chennai Egmore Express could provide w day time connectivity , it can be introduced and can be rerouted via TJ

- Coimbatore Express can be reintroduced via Palani which would give overnight short connectivity between CBE and MDU

Dindigul - Mayiladuthurai Passenger can be converted into Express and can be extended to Madurai thus making Madurai having a daytime connectivity with TJ and MV

While in the case of Kerala , there was pressure for restoration of Kannur - Bangalore Express when the link was cancelled , there was pressure which made Amritha and Rajyarani Express to run as two independent trains....

Just Imagine, Chennai does NOT have direct connectivity to:

1. Saurastra & Kutch region in Gujarat(OKHA/PBR/Rajkot/Gandhidam) - Navjeevan Exp started way back in 70s continue to run packed but only till ADI

Entire Konkan coast - Not even a weekly train in this route from Chennai, even though 4 daily trains run upto Mangalore, extending even one to Madgaon would run profitable and help passenger connectivity in this route

3. Inner Punjab(Amritsar/Ferozeppur) - Not even a weekly again. Worst even the MAS - Katra train is not restored

4. No dedicated train from Chennai to PNBE: Sanghamitra Exp started from MAS to Patna but was extended to SBC and since has reduced number in seat quota to Chennai....

5. In Rajasthan no train to Sri Ganganagar/Udaipur/Barmer

6. Uttarpradesh/Uttarakand:Western UP & UK not direct connectivity

7. Mahatrastra: No connectvity to cities like Ahmednagar/Latur/Nanded/Parli/HingoliWashim etc...

8. The cauvery Delta region does not have train connectivity to Delhi

9. CBE does not have proper connections to Delta except the single semmozhi exp; and Tiruchendur/Tutocorin

The list goes on and on.....

Only North east and east coast is adequately connected from Chennai
