Not first preference, as Evening arrival at New Delhi is not that much preferred when you have Rajdhani Trains arriving at 8:30 and 9:30 and 9:55 in morning.

or Two of my fellow passengers had booked some months ago when All Rajdhani Trains went into Waiting List, One or Two booked their seats a little late and got Waiting List as initial status (like me) and Two Passengers literally booked their tickets at 06:30 PM and 07:45 PM as they didn't know when would they be relieved from their work. They booked as soon as they got relieved and didn't had to go for flights.
This is how this train fills and will always get filled- After Rajdhani Trains get filled.
HUGE number of Last Minute Travelers, Like HUGE.
Got to know from TTE that regardless of what availability shown on IRCTC, runs with above 75% occupancy throughout the year.
