Located about 12 kms East of Gadag.towards Koppal is the historical village of Lakkundi, housing many temples and stepwells related to the Western chalukyan period . Many of the structures are now ruined, and about 12 os these structures are under the preview of ASI, which also has am office in this town. Though many of the temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva, there are few temples dedicated to Jainism as well. The town also houses a beautiful step well which is under ASI preview . The town is well connected by town buses and express buses from Gadag.

Some of these structures are in ruins now, but around 12 of them are taken care of by the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India), which has an office in this town.
