After seeing the horrific scenes from the accident spot, following points come to mind, so want to share here:
1. Freight traffic be regulated up to a capping for each section so that there remains free maintenance period for overhaul of tracks, switch overs, signaling and other control related systems.
2. Unrealistic target of 75 VBs a year is putting undue pressure on technical officers and crew and is playing somewhere in their mind. It should be done away with. Routine safety and maintenance of regular M/E/other non premium trains automatically takes
back seat when each month you see PM flagging of a new VB. First preference should be given to lhbfication of all long distance M/E/SF trains.
3. Instead of addition of new slots for VBs, first the Shatabdi's already plying should be allotted VB rake. This would also avoid undue competition for patronage between VB/double decker/JS trains running on near about time slots in those sections .
4. Rake standardization should be implemented carefully on case to case basis for each section and time slot considering the specific issues faced by passengers in that route, instead of going all out everywhere blatantly. This would reduce hardships of passengers to some extent and excess load on regular legendary trains occupying prime time slot, to some extent
Further more suggestions are welcome for open discussion

...and that 12864 got entangled into this accident due to late running of 3.5 hrs, would have escaped this had it run on time. Anyways who can escape the destiny. Could have been another train on another date

A few days ago I was heavily criticised by one RF whom I have blocked now for saying why does Mumbai Goa need a VB when we already have two dedicated premium trains ie. Tejas and JNS instead heavily crowded trains like Vasco Patna weekly should be given frequency increase instead of focussing only on the rich tourists who come to Goa for vacations. I was criticised for my point saying I'm a Goan and have personally seen the rush of poor and middle class UP and Bihar migrants in Vasco Patna SF. I even said if Mumbai Goa VB is added then Tejas should be cancelled but no he said why should only Goans decide what trains they want and not Mumbai. Unfortunately these RFs are also so blinded in love for VB they forget that transportation for these migrants is much more important than for the tourists. And if...
argument is on profitability then these days migrants to Goa also stretch their budget to 2AC for a comfortable journey. Even if Vasco Patna is rake standardized after LHB it will still run full both 2AC and 3AC so no argument there also.

Last point in this news article is particularly important, like for the flights there is independent investigative agency for safely in DGCA, railway officers themselves get deputed as CRS

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
