I travelled by this train on 9 Nov, 2012. This train is a classic example which proves that the Indian Railways is indeed run by fools. I traveled from Panvel to Thivim and no real issues with the train reaching Thivim more than 2 hours late. When I reached Panvel, I saw a few people arguing with the Station Manager that they have a 2 AC ticket, but the coach/bogie position chart actually has "B1" and there are no details of the "A1" coach. The Station manager replied that he had called up the authorities a no of times and they have time and again clarified that the AC coach is “B1” and not “A1”.
The train left Panvel around 55 minutes...
more... late and the TTE was a really tired man even though there was just a single AC coach in the train. The issue here was the coach was actually a 3-AC one and the booking was done for a 2 AC coach. Therefore, the TTE could not refund the passengers as the difference between the 2 classes is quite sizeable. The worst part here is that till date the train still shows a 2 AC class as available for booking. In short, whoever has a 2 AC ticket for 16/11, 23/11 etc will actually travel 3 AC and not 2 AC.
I hope the TTE on the day will carry enough cash so that he can actually refund the passengers on the spot rather than making the passengers wait in queues at railway stations.
