There are too many buses plying on LKO-ALD route and hence pax don't really prefer trains. Plus, this comes bang in the afternoon. Many folks just take the morning or evening ICEs.
How was the quality of food in Executive class? Was it any better than the droll pantry stuff one usually purchases in normal trains?

Prayagraj Junction is undergoing redevelopment at a cost of ₹1,000 crores, largely driven by the Kumbh Mela.
I once took this route via Triveni express. That train is awfully slow, takes almost 6 hrs, twice the time of the VB. The mps of this route is only 110 kph, I think and until some years earlier some part of it on RBL-Prayag stretch was semaphore signalling.
