I recently had the opportunity to travel from MAS to BNC, with two of my mates in 22625.
I might even pen a travelogue soon.
Well, why choose 22625 ?
Well, 20607 and 12007 depart a tad too early for me and my pals, and Brindavan though a legendary train, is still a Superfast. Hence chose 22625 for the novelty factor.
...

Believe it or not, this was the first time I got a chance to be onboard a AC DD.
My opinions:-
1. The train has non AC boarding options too! My mind was blown.
2. The train is the last option for SBC bound travelers, even lesser passenger priority when compared to Brindavan. Still runs jam-packed !
3. Man, those AC seats in AC DDs are uncomfortable, even the CC in normal intercities are better.
4. Lastly, this train has clearly seen better days.

After experiencing this journey, an interesting yet persistent thought has continuously plagued my mind.
What if 22625 was shifted to TBM instead of Central. This way a whole area of Chennai will be able to seamlessly avail a morning superfast to Bengaluru.
I think a 06:40 departure from TBM would be perfect, and additional stoppages at Egmore and Perambur would have to be added.
What is your opinion fellow members ?
I am very interested to hear your thoughts on the same.
- Arnab

The DD coaches are built by RCF kaparthula. The seat design is of city bus travel and not for intercity travel. The seats of normal ACC are far better and should have been used. The seats are designed by Sutlej which designed and supplied seats to Shatabdi express and also to Mercedes Benz Buses in India. The railway officials have given wrong requiremnt of seats design to supply from a reputed company which is capable of better comfort. I feel if they cut the seating capacity by 1 row in upper and bottom decks 5 seats each total 10, and make 110 seats instead of present 120 the comfort level with pushback and thigh support of VB seats can be achieved. If IR would have selected proper routes of 250km-400km with better seating atleast 20 DD can easily be run in india rolling 4 rakes per year.

No need to extend any SBC train to MS/TBM. Already the lines are saturated. It will only add fuel to the fire.

DD seats are defintely uncomfortable....in the name of increasing capacity, they have added more number of seats at the cost of comfort. Travelling with heavy luggage/trolley bags is strict no. There will be no place to store the luggage.
I recently travelled from SBC to Chennai. It was jampacked....probably due to vacation rush. DD, Vande Bharat & then Vrindavan. The traffic is so much that all trains run full with passengers.
Given that DD coaches are no longer being produced, it will meet the same fate as that of old Garib Rath coaches,
...

they will slowly be discontinued and then railways might go back to the regular Chair Car.

Except Uday 5.5 yrs old and Tirupati Vskp 10.5 yrs old rest still have a life of 6-8 yrs. They should be replaced with Vande Metro in future as both are of same comfort level with lesser fare. If replaced with ACC fare will be same.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
