In February 2023, the Union Railway Minister approved ₹4.75 crore for a detailed plan to connect Ujjain to Jhalawar via Agar, Susner, Soyatkalan, and Raipur. The three plans are still under finalization and were presented to MP Anil Firojiya on October 5th, 2023. A narrow gauge train operated between Ujjain and Agar from 1932 to 1975. The engine of that train (worth ₹1,61,276 at the time) is still displayed at Ujjain Railway Station. Western Central Railway had already started train operations between Jhalawar and Ramganj Mandi a decade ago. However, a direct line between Ujjain and Jhalawar remains on paper. Currently, passengers have to travel to Jhalawar via Ramganj Mandi, with trains departing at 8:10 am, 3:58 pm, and 8:45 pm. To improve connectivity, the National Highways Authority has converted the road from Ujjain to Ghonsla into a four-lane highway. The road to Jhalawar is 10 meters wide and is slated for four-laning before the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

Us train ka engine (jo us time ₹1,61,276 ka tha) aaj bhi Ujjain Railway Station par display kiya gaya hai. Western Central Railway ne ek decade pehle Jhalawar se Ramganj Mandi tak rail line bichakar train operation shuru ki thi. Lekin Ujjain aur Jhalawar ke beech rail line abhi bhi paper par hi hai. Is samay, passengers ko Jhalawar jane ke liye Ramganj Mandi station utarna padta hai, jaha se trains subah 8:10 am, dopahar 3:58 pm aur raat 8:45 pm par chalti hain. Connectivity ko behtar banane ke liye, National Highways Authority ne Ujjain se Ghonsla tak ka rasta four-lane highway mein convert kiya hai. Jhalawar tak ki sadak 10 meter chaudi hai aur isko 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela se pehle four-lane mein convert karne ki plan hai.
