Spotted it at BWN outer towards ASN. Not sure what purpose it serves. But what I have noticed it is some hybrid kind of thing, can run both by electric and diesel. At the time of the snap it was running with diesel and it's panto was lowered.
May be I shouldn't comment on it, but how would be the idea if IR considers to manufacture hybrid locos like this one?

Probably it's a line inspection car. That's why it can run on both power. And these cars are very less powerful, barely 500hp, not more than that. Manufacturing a highly powerful hybrid loco would be expensive.

It's ok, the thought and the TT is quite good actually. Though I think some stoppages like DAKE, AMP, NHT, KDPR, DLK can be removed as very few or no SF stop there. Also you can reduce stoppage timing at BWN, BHP, NFK, BOE, KNE to 3mnts each. Thus 5X2= 10Mnts can be saved in total.
However, I am saying again, it's good. But not sure of the chance of implementation though. Uttarbanga started in this route as a compensation back in 2003 when Darjeeling Mail became a Superfast. And not sure whether IR would be eager to upgrade the replacement too, but it's well composed TT. Please prepare the return also.
And no need to transfer it to New Garia.

I don't disagree that it should be upgraded, rather a SF would be a good idea. What I am saying that the chance of particularly Uttarbanga's up gradation.
As I said earlier, this train (along with Kanchankanya) was re-routed as a compensation when Darjeeling Mail became Superfast (from 3143/3144 to 2343/2344 then) and many stoppages were removed from Darjeeling's TT. Before 2003 both Uttarbanga and Kanchankanya used to run via BAK loop (BDC-KWAE-AZ). They used to share slot and run on alternate days (3147/3148 was Tri-Weekly and 3149 ran on rest). Kanchankanya used to run till NJP only, not APDJ like today. Also on their initial days at BWN-RPH route they used to share slot. Later (probably in 2010) both became daily
and 13149 slot separated. At present 13147 follows the more or less same slot that Darjeeling used to follow before it became SF. That's why I am not sure if IR would do it.

Presenting a new version of Bilaspur Rajdhani via Saugor and Anuppur... This train has approx 400 km shorter route and thus saves 6 hours of journey as compared to existing raj...Will be a superhit train and will take load from other BSP bound trains from New Delhi...
Kindly give your flags and comments...!!!

My friend, I would request you to do a proper homework before you conclude :)
Assam capital Dispur and Gujarat capital Gandhinagar are just sub-urbs of Guwahati and Ahmedabad respectively. So definitely Rajdhani are connecting State Capitals with the National Capital. Also the North-East is a delicate issue and they enjoy extra previledge.
However, you don't like the red then I'm withdrawing it. But admit it that your concept is all wrong.

You must know North East to understand the Dibrugarh Rajdhani. Dimapur (the old name of the railway station was Manipur Road) is the nearest railhead for Nagaland and Manipur state capitals. Also Dibrugarh serves a large area of Arunachal Pradesh. Guwahati is also the nearest railhead for Meghalaya state capital Shillong.

The point was there is no extra privilege for North East. North East is a deprived region. For many years no NFR trains even had Tatkal facility. I also found Credit Cards were not accepted even at Guwahati railway reservation counters.

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
