Oct 04 2014 (08:30)   Rail users criticise dynamic pricing scheme

The Railways have made half of the Tatkal tickets on 80 most popular trains costlier with effect from October 1. This triggered a backlash from users who have complained that efforts should instead have been made to curb touts who manage to corner most of these tickets.
Officials admitted that with the onset of the festival season, the tickets earmarked for the “dynamic pricing scheme’’ will be bought immediately. But most rail users including those on the Google Circles did not take kindly to this explanation.
“The move by the Railways to shift
50 per cent of Taktal quota to Premier Tatkal quota needs to be withdrawn. Why force a passenger to pay dynamic fare price, whose working and pricing structure is opaque and susceptible to be manipulated?” commented Mahendra Nahata.
But Tensing Rodrigues advised caution. “It is too early to criticise Premium Tatkal. Let us see how it works, because in principle it makes a lot of sense. Just to discard it because it means paying more is silly. Let us give this sort of populist mentality a rest; it will not take us anywhere,” he observed.
A railway official denied there was any intention to inconvenience passengers. But the Railways cannot increase the number of trains because of line capacity limitations.

With this decision, India has now shown that it has become truly capitalist and focusing on profit making by raiding pockets of the people. Instead of augmenting in number of coaches or trains people are compelled to spend their hard earned money. May be the day is not too far when all there would be bids in all the seats in all the classes in future to the peril of Aam Aadmi.

Indians would like give 300-500 Rs extra per person to agent for tatkal booking but not to railways. They will pay 500/- for local taxi/auto to go to station to board an early morning train but if they are asked by IR to pay Rs 100/200 extra for a 1000 kms travel, they will cry.

this is about the people who travel by cheaper public convenience like buses to reach the station and carry bottles to fill them up at the taps and the stations and save money to spend on their othr needs and not those who can spend anything for everything.

My dear for those, there are jansadharan trains, general class as well. Further, if someone has Rs 200 to pay for normal tatkal, then certainly that fellow does not belong to that poor labour class, u are talking about. It is going to affect middle class people like u & me more than anyone else. I will downgrade myself to travel in SL from 3A dependig upon weather and other factors like with/without family.
By the way, if out of 11-12 SL coaches with 700+ carrying capacity, 50 seats are kept for premium tatkal, still remaining 600 seats are there for normal booking, go for it then.

There is no concurrency in train running status shown in site. Particularly in case of Rewa- NDLS Exp., time of departure of the train from Rewa station is not updated or synchronised with that of trian's arrival at Rewa. Rewa is a terminus Station and people from hundreds of kms come to board the train at Rewa and they reach very early as Railways Enquiry System contact number 139 gives incorrect and unupdated information.

Yes you are right but adequacy of time at Bilaspur Station has to be checked as to the differecnce between arrival and departure times there or else timings need to be chaged.
But, the Train could either be run between Rewa and Allahabad as you have rightly said it has more than 12 hrs of halt there.
