On 27 July 15 after Satragachi Aggressively running WAP 7 Pantograph was broken and Engine became dead. @ dasnagar station. Waited for 2 hours for service engineers from Satragachi shed to arrive and ALCO from Howrah station to tow dead WAP 7.
Became real news with ETV BANGLA . ABP ANANDA . AND 24 GHONT arriving at sscene.
which has thrown Bombay Line traffic into dead halt.

It's really heartbreaking. But, the Possible Cause of this Incident is the "Gap" in Distance between OHE Catenary and Pantograph I think causing error in Contact with the OHE. If you closely look at the Dasnagar entrance you will find that the tracks are Curvy so "Aggressive Speed" here is fatal as because the Catenary height is uneven here because of curvy track which the LP and ALP don't know I think. As because in the last run of this Train with AJNI WAP-7 it make a slow entrance at this Zone entering Dasnagar. Emu coaches also runs slowly here because of this Curvy entrance and uneven height of Catenary.

would be better to use AJNI WAP-7 which made previous runs as Offlink in this route with LPs who has the knowledge about SER. If any other Shed WAP-7 is seen then also should be equipped with LPs who has the knowledge about SER. After Santragachi to Howrah you have to check your speed in case of these High Speed Loco as because the track is curvy near Dasnagar entrance then again at Tikiapara EMU Shed I have seen this Zone since 1990 so know every nook and corner of SER.

This incident makes the Entry of WAP-7 in SER COMPLETELY UNCERTAIN as this Loco Cut a Sorry Figure in SER territory due to the Lack of knowledge of it's Pilots about this territory.

pls dont take it personally, its not particular to any zone or train, but the issue is why evryone so justifiying a train to get wap7, are wap4s nt doing their jobs reasonably well? its not abt geetanjali, for any matter evryone wants their train to be hauld by a wap7...

A similar situation happened at Chennai Central when #30357 RPM P7 link of Gudur passenger got its panto stuck in OHE while going towards PF 2.
Due to this,12695 Trivandrum exp was delayed by 1hr 10 mins...as it was on pf 3.
Similar incidents happen in any zone...but this does not mean the case would be closed forever... SER can handle 3 phasers future...

Your photos are like LIVE news updates regarding the technical daily happenings on the IR Network for IRI Site. These breakdowns just show that our electric loco sheds (staff+infra) should be made capable of handling these 3-Phaser Locos and the same for LHB coaches also... thanks for sharing :-)

Trip ended with Dead WAP 7 and 2 hour delay.
Conclusion: Trip was good. Despite the power of WAP 7. which was awesome Train was made to wait for its schedule time. Some time delaying the train in outer's.
FINAL: WAP 7 only when TT is made more aggressive to match Power of WAP 7.
