Actually, HM was Mr Shivraj Patil who resigned from his position of Home Minister in Union Cabinet taking moral responsibility for the security lapse that led to the November 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. However, he was criticised for changing clothes for public appearances during the time of attack.

Apparently, resignation won't solve any problem. But I have not heard Mr Prabhu taking any responsibility as the head of ministry. Yaha to bas twitter pe galat data dalkar, khud ka image acha kiya ja raha hai. congestion ka rona ro rahe hai, lekin khud ki ministry k MoSR trains badhaye jaa rahe hai. This is shameful.

but the main thing is there is huge deference btween that tym to this tym.. prabhu is trying to change the whole infrastructure of railway coaches .. the all pending projects which are in wait list from last 20-30years he trying to complete within 5 to 7 years.. and all projects are going one the surface .. mr. lalu have maked this railway hell no infrastructure construction only new trains and make the railway full of conjasion .. the converting the all ICF into LHB is a huge decision, which others ministers doesn't done.. first LHB was suggested early before 15yrs ago .. .
look todays accident is also very dangerous but due to LHB rake the casualty becomes
zero.. its not is to convert 65000 coaches at a day .. prabhu is really gifted person for railway trust me its really tough but he will definitely complete the whole problem fix up by 8-10 years fully. .

Allahabad Duronto was stopped at Kanchausi at 02:52, moments after 12225 Kaifiyaat Express derailed.
Considering that the accident was caused due to collision of train with dumper truck, who knows, it would have been Allahabad Duronto, if 12225 was stopped at Phaphund for the overtake.

I have utmost empathy for them. My whole point was that what could have happened with Duronto (ultimately, it would have overtaken Kafiyaat between CNB-TDL) happened with Kafiyaat. Call it luck, fate whatever, but it was a close save for Duronto and bad time for Kafiyaat.
Kindly don't take it as a blog of triumphant. It was just to inform of what could have happened most probably, and what happened ultimately.
नई दिल्ली/मुंबई: उत्तर प्रदेश के मुजफ्फरनगर में एक भीषण रेल हादसे में करीब 30 लोगों के मरने और 400 लोगों के घायल होने के बाद उम्मीद की जा रही थी कि रेल मंत्री नैतिकता के आधार पर जिम्मेदारी लेंगे और अपने पद से इस्तीफा देंगे. लेकिन लोकतंत्र में जवाबदेही अब गुजरे जमाने की बात है. रेल मंत्रालय ने उल्टे अपनी पीठ थपथपाई है जैसे कि उसने कोई महान उपलब्धि हासिल की हो.
1956 में जवाहरलाल नेहरू प्रधानमंत्री थे. रेल मंत्रालय लालबहादुर शास्त्री के पास था. महबूबनगर एक भीषण रेल हादसा हो गया. लालबहादुर शास्त्री ने इसे अपने मंत्रालय की चूक मानकर हादसे की जिम्मेदारी लेते हुए पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया. प्रधानमंत्री नेहरू ने उनका इस्तीफा स्वीकार नहीं किया.
तीन महीने बाद अरियालूर में फिर से एक रेल हादसा हुआ, इस दुर्घटना में भी 114 लोग मारे गए. शास्त्री ने फिर जिम्मेदारी लेते हुए इस्तीफा दिया. इस बार नेहरू ने इस्तीफा स्वीकार कर लिया. इस्तीफा स्वीकार करते हुए उन्होंने संसद में बताया कि इस्तीफा इसलिए नहीं स्वीकार किया जा रहा है कि शास्त्री की कोई गलती है, बल्कि यह इस्तीफा इसलिए स्वीकार किया जा रहा है ताकि जवाबदेही की एक नजीर बने.
उत्कल एक्सप्रेस के पटरी से उतरने के बाद निशाने पर आए रेल मंत्रालय ने सोमवार को कहा कि सुरक्षा के कई कदम उठाए जाने के बाद पिछले तीन वर्षों में ट्रेन दुर्घटनाओं में कमी आई है.
मंत्रालय ने कहा कि वर्ष 2014-15 में 135 दुर्घटनाएं हुई थी जो 2015-16 में घटकर 107 हो गई, जबकि 2016-17 में यह संख्या कुछ और कम 104 थी.
उत्तर प्रदेश में खतौली के निकट बीते शनिवार को उत्कल एक्प्रेस के 13 डिब्बे पटरी से उतरने के बाद रेल सुरक्षा का मुद्दा सामने आया है. इस हादसे में 30 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी और करीब 400 लोग घायल हुए थे. इनमें से कई घायलों की स्थिति गंभीर बनी हुई है.

मंत्रालय ने एक बयान में कहा कि चालू वर्ष में अप्रैल-जून की अवधि के दौरान 2016 की इसी अवधि की तुलना में ट्रेन दुर्घटनाओं की संख्या 29 से घटकर 15 हो गई.
बयान में कहा गया हालांकि हर जीवन अमूल्य है और हादसे में किसी की भी मौत हमारे लिए अपूर्णीय क्षति है. हताहतों की संख्या में भी कमी देखी गई है.
इसके मुताबिक, पूर्व की संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन संप्रग एक सरकार के पहले तीन वर्षों के कार्यकाल में मृतकों की संख्या 759 थी और संप्रग के दूसरे कार्यकाल के दौरान यह संख्या बढ़कर 938 हो गई. मौजूदा सरकार के पहले तीन वर्षों में यह संख्या घटकर 652 है.
बयान में कहा गया है कि तीव्र ट्रैक नवीनीकरण,रेल आगमन से संबंधित अल्ट्रासोनिक प्रणाली, प्राथमिकता के आधार पर कई मानवरहित फाटकों को हटाना, एक विशेष सुरक्षा निधि के साथ साथ आधुनिक डिब्बे एलएचबी को लाए जाने के लिए कदम उठाए गए हैं ताकि रेल यात्रा को सुरक्षित बनाया जा सकें.
रेल मंत्रालय के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने बताया कि अति सुरक्षा से संबंधित कार्यों के लिए राष्ट्रीय रेल संरक्षा कोष 2017-18 के बजट में स्थापित किया गया था.
उन्होंने मुंबई में कहा कि इस निधि की स्थापना पांच वर्षों से अधिक समय के लिए एक लाख करोड़ रुपये की धनराशि से की गई थी.
एक भयानक हादसे के बाद जवाबदेही स्वीकार करने की जगह अपनी पीठ ठोंकना असंवेदनशीलता नहीं है? क्या जो नजीर नेहरू और शास्त्री ने रखी थी, अब देश को उसकी जरूरत नहीं है? क्या अब लोकतंत्र में जवाबदेही जैसी कोई चीज वजूद में नहीं है?

Suresh Prabhu is the leader of those regional managers and employees. I agree that all those ground level failures are to be blamed on them.
But imagine tomorrow, if same regional managers and employee do some extra ordinary work that changes the condition of Railways drastically, WON'T YOU PRAISE SURESH PRABHU FOR HIS LEADERSHIP?
If a leader can take credit of good works of employees working under him, he should also take the blame of their failures.
