The railway fare increase is expected from Sep 1. The TTE"s in running trains operate a parallel booking office but the revenue goes into their pockets.I have travelled very frequently from Mumbai to chennai. I have seen many people board sleeper coaches, some without ticket and some with ordy 2 class ticket. After the train leaves every junction, the TTE 's collect Rs 50 from each person for travel to next junction and says otherwise pay Rs 250 as penalty. It is cheaper to pay Rs 50.Each TTE earns this way Rs 500 to Rs 1000 per day. This is besides "on money" by selling vacant berths.
This may be happening in other trains also.
TTE's

never take leave to enjoy holidays as they loose this "pocket money"otherwise.
There are no vigilance staff to check this fraud. If this malpractice is checked there will be no need to raise the train fare.

since there is no refund on tatkal tickets,no one takes pains to cancel the ticket. These berths are sold by TTE's at 150- 200 rs to on the way passengers whereas non tatkal passengers either cancel tickets or go in RAC
To prevent this there should a nominal refund of 5% of fare &the vacant berths should be alloted by computer to wait listed /RAC passengers.

The coaches running in mumbai chennai trains are due for condemnation long ago. Many coaches have patch work in toilet, very unhygenic.
Railways coaches get condemned only when there is an accident.Railways do not do on their own.

E ticket consumes more paper as the size is bigger than tkt issued over the rly counter. size reduction should be thought of.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...
