Be alert at KJM station. When I travelled, there was no coach position displayed, neither there was any announcement of the train!!!!
There is veg/egg/chicken biryani sold in between KJM-YPR. There are vendors at YPR as well. Good 'e catering' options availble at YPR (dinner) & UBL (breakfast). at YPR one can get food served from KFC, Dominos & other vendors for thali etc..I ordered a a veg thali, every food item was warm, both vegs & daal were good in taste. Gulamjamun was delicious. Chapati was made from maida. Sufficient qtty of rice, 3 chapatis. The cost of thali was 155 (all inclusive). At UBL, I ordered Idli wada from e catering. what you get from platform vendor). It had 4 idlis, 1 wada, chutney & Sambar for Rs 40 (totally worth it!). UBL has good options in breakfast. Train mostly reaches before time @ Hubli South & Hubali. Vendors get in @ Hubli South only.
Not to mention about the Braganza Ghats & Dudhsagar!!!! If you get a berth on left side, you will get a good close-up view of the Dudhsagar Falls. (Just Ask Vendors when the Dudhsagar will come & get ready to capture it). If you want to capture it from the door, you should catch the door well in advance, else most of the travellers know about this falls & all the doors will be packed. If you are seating on right side of the train, you will get the remote view of the falls as train negotiates the curve just after dudhsagar falls.
