e tickets or prs tickets cannot be extended before journey. you need to cancel and rebook. though extension of tickets can be done onboard trains. you need to pay fresh fare for the extended part to the tte and that too without telescopic advantage.

this means suppose you have a ticket from kalyan to kanpur and the fare is rs.600. now you want it to extend it to lucknow. a fresh ticket from kalyan to lucknow may cost rs.650. but a ticket from kanpur to lucknow will cost rs.250. this is because in indian railways, the more you travel the cheaper is the fare. so as per this example, you need to pay rs.250 onboard to tte for extension of ticket. but if you cancel and rebook, you will have to pay just rs.50 extra( 650 minus rs.600). ofcourse the cancellation charges do apply.
NB~ this is just an example to explain the telescopic advantage. not exact fares

Yes you can board(as it is allowed in this situation)but endorse your ticket at original boarding station by SM to avoid any problem or try to change boarding point(if possible).

Yes you can do so in the prevailing situations.
But get your ticket , endorsed by Station Manager, before boarding the train, and get it quickly so that TTE in the train does not allot your bert to any other passenger.
Time is short before 8pm to day, it should be done if you have got ticket from PRS conter.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
