Gatimaan dirty
TRAIN LEFT DIRTY
When Gatimaan Express started its maiden run towards Agra, its coaches, vestibules and toilets were spic and span. On its return, it showed signs of being ravaged by callous passengers. Sinks choked with pan masala dregs, empty bottles and food packets lying on the floor and soiled toilets brought the train closer to the standards of any other train.

PUNE: At least 19 new express trains, including two from Pune, would chug on tracks before March 31 next year.
The official time table posted on the railways website includes the 19 new trains, four of which would be completely air-conditioned (AC). It came as a surprise because railway minister Suresh Prabhu had taken a bold decision not to announce any new train in his maiden railway budget presented last February.
Of the four new AC trains, two would ply from Pune — one to Delhi and another to Nagpur. The third train

AC train would be running between Nagpur and Amritsar. The fourth train would be from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) to Lucknow. Five new Jansadharan trains would ply according to the demand of commuters. The time table states that the date of the introduction of the new trains would be notified later.
Mumbai would get two new express trains, including the AC express to Lucknow and LTT to Kazipet (via Nashik-Manmad). Two Jansadharan trains would ply between Mumbai and Chhapra and LTT to Jayanagar.
Two existing trains would now run as superfast trains— Pune to Indore and Bandra to Dehradun. The Indore-Gwalior train would be extended up to Jhansi. The frequency of Yeshwantpur-Puducherry Express would increase from two to three days each week.
The proposal to introduce the new trains would be a delight to railway commuters because railway minister Prabhu had for the first time made a departure from the tradition of announcing new trains in the budget speech. "At present, due to over-utilised line capacity and backlog in track renewals, there are speed restrictions, which lead to delay in running more number of trains. The review will be completed soon so that we can announce new trains and increase frequency of trains in this session (budget session of Parliament)."
No new trains were announced either in the budget session or the monsoon session of Parliament. The bonus came with the new railway time table introduced on October 1, usually initiated on July 1 every year.
A railway official said: "The Railway Board takes the decision on the introduction of new trains. Generally the trains are introduced before the end of a financial year. The actual running of trains depends on the availability of new rakes (coaches). The board decides the priority of starting new trains."

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
