early morning chill told me that we are in karnataka. kuppam bangarepet stretch was at mps. ironically i have noticed old coaches less susceptible to extreme vibration at high speed. train reaches before time at kjm. nostalgia filled my mind looking at the diesel loco shed. the sweet hum of wdm is missed too much nowadays. that charm cannot be fulfilled by wap. next stop bangalore cantt. most passengers get down here if not at kjm. handful of them sit till destination, which is complete waste of time. overall train is good revenue grosser and should be continued after 28 january 2013 also. the normal 16316 and this special can be clubbed as a single train to be run as
daily. 12214 dee ypr duronto rake being run as ac exp to kcvl on thursday's was heard long back but now for long not heard anything more in this regard. maybe swr dropped the plan it seems. reaching sbc on platform no 3 noticed that sangamitra exp was ready for departure from platform no 1. the pantry car was cover in so called soot from the kitchen car stoves. perhaps rake cleaning not undertaken. bihar train is a bit low on cleanliness both inside as well as outside. 06316 and 16316 are living up to the expectation of the general public with their less stoppage and 23 coaches. kudos to sr for introduction of special 06316. thank you all for bearing with my trip log. mistakes to be spared. more next time, signing off sincerely. 12626boatmail.

wap 4 pulled the puny load with ease after negotiating the turnouts just before the veli lake to cross over to mainline track. it was a good run, arriving at quilon bang on time. i was rather taken aback by the lack of catering service. although it never had pantry car yet vendors used to occupy s9, s10 vestibule area for storing food items for the entire trip. may be that contract was stopped. nowadays it is safe to carry own food rather depend on bihari bhaiyas filthy catering. guys from bihar have infiltrated into all walks of our life. be it tte or the drm!. nice they have passion to work and earn. for them it is a mini
dubai. 06316 had normal run towards ers with no unscheduled stops enroute. wap4 was sounding horn aggressively in kayamkulam allepey ernakulam section. sometimes it was believed to be the norm after the increase in level crossing accidents. the track sound completely changes after departing from ers. smooth long welded rails i suppose. tcr stop picked up more passengers. tte came to check. they seem to be more strict
with regard to id proof in sleeper coaches. slept to the rocking motion of icf coaches after pgt. 06316 took time to cross the western ghats as oil rake goods was ahead of us. i was surprised to see ourselves running on the down line for a considerable distance. the goods with twin electric was seen waiting at walayar for 06316 to pass through. although just before that we had a parallel run for 15 minutes or so in the same direction. i observed such parallel running for the first time over sr territory. cont.............

contd........ guard and lp it is learnt that they sign roster kept at tvc. kcvl doesn't have facilities for obvious reasons. tamil guard was seen tidying up his slr coach with help from lady sweepers employed at the terminal. this speaks volumes of the maintenance being done, and the cleaning aspect. it should be noted that the train arrived same morning 0930hrs and it gave maintenance staff 6 hours to clean itself. but in gods own country on god does all that things. 06316 consisted old coach composition with new bio toilets fitted rake was on sbc side that evening. boarded my coach. it was a swr coach instead of sr coach. may be taken sick at other end. time was about 1615hrs. i noticed air pressure leakage from the feed piper of the adjacent s2. promptly informed guard. he assured that wap4 was being connected and his gauge also showed...
less air pressure and it will be rectified by staff who will walk all the way to slr from loco after attaching it. having said that a man was seen jumping down to the buffer area between s1, s2 and air leaking sound disappeared. exchanged pleasantries with guard and excused myself. sat on my sl berth. in the name of housekeeping and maintenance a young fellow was seen pouring some drops of white phenoyl into tho lavatory as the train started moving. chart was not pasted! shortage of manpower it seems. cont...........

contd...... kochuveli yesvantpur garib rath when idling at ypr is used as puduchery garib rather on saturday and sunday. it is known to be a white elephant on that route mostly due to the fact that it more time than that of bus. anyways something is better than nothing. that said, returning to the scene at kcvl. garib rath has diesel power at the lead. it travels through salem dharmapuri which is a diesel territory. wap4 was seen stationed at the far end of platform no 2 for attaching as power for 06316. on the pit lines kerala express was seen in bifurcated form with less than 24 coaches. out of the maze a movement was noticed in the pit lines. a diesel shunter was pulling out 23 coach 06316 to be placed at platform no.2. it is worthwhile to note that gr is given priority and placed on platform no...
1. may be that it arrived from ypr in afternoon and just sitting there. gr rake was not much occupied. it begins to fill after quilon. and more so in ktym route. 06316 was taken through loop line towards trivandrum side and was reversed to bring in platform no.2 with the wap4 waiting for it at front. kcvl even after commencing operations years ago still lack foot over bridges to commute to other platforms. elderly find it very difficult. slowly 06316 rake passed through platform 2 with my coach being s1 at the rear. contd...........

trip report 06316.
i had a hectic weekend at tvc. planned to travel by 06316 to sa.
reached kcvl station on an overcast afternoon. kcvl station has the distinction of being a railway terminal with minimal facilities in kerala. arrived at 1545hrs on sunday. 06316 departure time was 1630 hrs. i was amused by the sight of garib rath put on platform no 1. it's timing was 1700hrs. 06316 was nowhere to be seen. speaking about gr rake, it had permanent indicator boards depicting the rake sharing arrangement with puduchery gr. it is
maintained by south western railway bangalore division. ..

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
