I feel that, we need to see one proper rainy season and then if there are any flaws, railways will correct it...slowly situation can improve... Also a new railway line between Chandranathpur and New Silchar would do a lots of difference even if train runs slow in Mountain region. And this is possible only with the demand, and demand would improve after the railway line reaches Imphal.

It is still far better than Hassan Mangalore railway line in SWR, Operations on this railway line started almost 10 years ago and there is only one daily and one try weekly express running on this section. And I am confidant that, once there is a demand there will be a supply automatically :).

Feb 13 2016 (13:36)   Gogoi for double tracking of Guwahati-Tinsukia line

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has requested Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to include double tracking of railway lines from Guwahati to Tinsukia for better, safer and faster links with the rest of the country in his forthcoming Railway Budget 2016-17.
In a letter to the Minister for Railways today, the Chief Minister said the double tracking of railway lines from Guwahati to Tinsukia and expediting the ongoing doubling of the railway line stretch between New Bongaigaon and Kamakhya are crucial for growth and development of Assam and the region as a whole.
“The railway

track in the State also needs to be electrified,” he added. The Chief Minister underscored the need for introduction of superfast daily express trains with limited stops outside Assam “from Dibrugarh/Guwahati to Mumbai/Pune in the west, Vellore/Chennai/Bangalore/ Trivandrum/Kochi in the south and Amritsar/ Jammu in the north.”
“Moreover, a Shatabdi train from Silchar to Guwahati and a Rajdhani Express from Silchar to New Delhi are required to be introduced to cater to the needs of the people of Barak Valley. The North East Express, which originates from Guwahati, may be extended to Silchar,” he said in the letter.
Gogoi also requested Prabhu to expedite the construction work of the much-delayed Bogibeel Rail-cum-Road Bridge, and a parallel bridge augmenting the existing Saraighat Bridge.
Gogoi also pleaded for a railway line from Silghat to Balipara via Tezpur with a Railway bridge over the Brahmaputra. The Chief Minister called for a separate zone for the NF Railways.
The Chief Minister underscored the need to upgrade the New Bongaigaon Railway Workshop to an Integrated Coach Factory and Production Unit.

He is talking about, Alipurduar in WB and Katihar in Bihar, but I feel that if these divisions are moved out of NFR, ER will try to terminate trains in Siliguri and Alipurduar which are in WB and ECR railway will try to terminate trains in Bihar. And it will become very difficult to extend trains to DBRG and other remote places. And it will be closure of gateway to rest of India, as they need to take permission of Katihar and Alipurduar divisions for introduction of new trains. It is very important to have control over trade routes in any part of the world.

BENGALURU:  As part of its efforts to ease traffic congestion within the City, the Bengaluru Railway Division has proposed that 50 pairs of Express trains stop at railway stations on the outskirts of the city.
Stoppages have been sought for most Express trains entering the city mainly at Channasandra, Yelahanka, Whitefield or Krishnarajapuram railway stations, according to a proposal submitted to the Hubballi Railway Division recently, say reliable railway sources.
“The proposal has to be okayed by the headquarters (Hubballi), the Railway Board and the Railway Ministry,” sources added.
The

congestion witnessed at Cantonment, Ypr and Majestic railway stations when long distance trains arrive and the scramble for buses and other modes of transport to various destinations in the city can be reduced massively, said a top railway official. “It will help in reducing road traffic within the city if this proposal is okayed,” he added.
Chief Passenger Transportation Member at South Western Railway Zone, Hubballi, A K Singh, said the proposal was being examined very positively by them. “We are actively looking at it. We do understand the congestion problems faced by Bengaluru. We want to facilitate easing of it.”
Refusing to divulge further details, Singh said it would take some time for a decision to be taken. “All I can say is that the first move towards this process has just started. The next railway time table will be out by July. If a decision is made, it could be announced in it,” he said.
A few Express trains presently stop at the stations but the proposal aims to have a manifold increase in the number of trains that stop at these stations. Out of the 50 pairs (onward and return) of Express trains, 15 pairs would stop at Yelahanka, eight pairs at Whitefield, 10 pairs at Krishnarajapuram and eight pairs at Channasandra, said a top railway source. Plans to stop a few pairs at Karmelaram station and other minor stations have also been suggested.
Channasandra railway station has to be upgraded with numerous facilities on the lines of K R Puram railway station before the process comes through, an official added.
Requested Train Stoppages
Whitefield station: Yeshwantpur-Howrah Express, Sangamitra Express, Brindavan Express and Kochuveli Express
Yelahanka: Sampakranti Express, Garib Rath (Secunderabad), Korba Express, Jabalpur Express, Ajmer Express and Jodhpur Express
Channasandra station: Coimbatore-Lokmanya Tilak Express, Udyan Express, Kacheguda Express, Shirdi Express and Hampi Express
Krishnarajapuram: Ypr-Howrah Express, Yeshwantpur-Kamakhya, Yeshwantpur-Lucknow Express and Dibrugarh-Mysuru Express.

Very useful step. In Channasandra, there is a second platform being built and the first platform length has been increased. But access(Foot over bridge) to second platform has to be provided, also if SWR can provide one more entry point towards RamaMurthy Nagar, it will be more useful. Hope all these will come up, once the demand raises.

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
