Can I book a separate ticket for my friend online? I am going to be part of a travel but on a separate ticket which is already confirmed online.

Surprised no one replied :(. All I wanted to know is if there are any restrictions to book a ticket from my username for my friend. As my name would not appear as a travelling partner on the ticket this should not create trouble for him. I assume this is acceptable.

I am posting this again as previous post is archived. I had booked 4 tickets 1A on 14th April for our return journey for travel end of July from Kerala to Goa of which 2 seats are CNF and 2 seats are PQWL/3 and PQWL/4. We are in the month of June and nothing has changed from 14th April. The issue is we have to travel on this date, no two ways about it. What is disturbing me is that I can see only another 6 tickets remaining on 2A aswell. Should I go ahead and block 4 seats on 2A just to be on the safer side or as advised by a few members previously that 2 seats on 1A would come through by travel date (I guess this is not 100% confirmed). How many days prior to travel date would I know if the seats have come...
through or would not come ? Cancellation is permitted until how many hours prior travel? Is there also an option of Tatkal for guaranteed seats for a higher fare ? When does tatkal option open up for booking? Please help.

Kindly post the PNR in PNR section for prediction.
Also, post the train details, so that members could reply / give suggestion.

please can you guide me how the tatkal tickets work? Is there a guarantee that you can get confirmed seats once tatkal opens. Sorry this might be a silly question but I have not travelled by trains previously?

First of all there is no tatkal quota for 1A class. You can try in 2A if you find it's not confirmed even before 2 days of journey, there is no one who will give you 100% confirmation of getting a confirmed tatkal ticket, find an agent who could do the job for you.

i think since ur 2 tickets are confirmed u can definitely board the train and request the tte for ur other 2 waitlisted tickets if it don't gets confirmed. secondly since u r getting a confirm 2AC tickets, u shud book it on a safer side.

Could someone please help me. I have booked 4 tickets 1AC for the month of July but realized on the ticket that 2 seats are CNF and 2 seats are PQWL which I believe is waitlisted. How does this work ? When would I know if they are confirmed or what are my chances of getting them confirmed ? I have to travel on a particular date so dates are not flexible. Should I also book a 2AC just to be on the safer side and cancel them later if 1AC comes through. Don't mind a small penalty for cancellation.

No need Mervin. July means it is a long way to go. Your tickets would surely confirm.

I am only worried because International world youth retreat ends on this day and there might be a heavy rush for people to get back home. Since there are no direct flights to Goa this particular connections works perfectly. Since I have not travelled previously in trains not sure how the waitlist actually works. The ticket says PQWL3 & PQWL4.

It means that if 4 people before you in the queue or with confirmed berths in 1ac cancel their tickets, both of your tickets would get confirmed.

I needed some information on MAdgaon ers exp (10215), never traveled on a train previously. Can someone please let me know the seating/sleeping arrangements in a AC first class? We are planning to travel in a group of 4. Does this mean there will be entire privacy or need to be shared with fellow passengers. Sorry, it might be a silly question for some but no clue about trains.

Yes, there will be full privacy. Since you are 4, chances are there you would be given 4-berth cabin.
Kindly see the pic attached to have a glimpse about what 1st AC is. Courtesy - click here

since in 1A seats allotment is only at the tym of chart preparation hence no one can say whether u all will get in one cabin or not, but suppose u four get in one cabin then u will have complete privacy
