The almost 40 year old, prestigious (but no-longer?) train that the Karnataka Express is, still runs on an ICF rake. How soon is it likely to run on LHB rakes?

MAS-NZM garib rath lies waste at MAS for more than 4 days. Its a big waste, especially with no new GRs being introduced. It should be run to PUNE in my opinion. MAS/SBC-PUNE requires a high priority train desperately.

The CBC coupling makes LHB coaches a lot safer than ICF and makes them almost derailment proof. Plus MPS increases to 130. Though it does not matter to KK till MMR, after that it can be speeded up with LHB. You can see SC duronto derailment. There were very few casualties due to LHB coaches. Weekly trains are getting LHB across IR due to less requirement of rakes. Be it anga or 16502 recently. Instead of rusting the rakes to get 100 coaches to make KK LHB, the zone simply allots it to 4 different trains!

Anga Fri to Sat is primary maintenance essential for any train.

Once again, to repeat myself, I have lovely memories of my travels by the Karnataka Express. I have no hatred towards SWR or the Karnataka Express. :)

Do 12295/96 deserve at least 2 more GN coaches - one on each end?

Only 2 GS coach is not at all sufficient, when compared to 12539 Lko Express , Sangha deserves more GS coaches

I was thinking additional 2. Not feasible? For a daily long distance train, it seems to be WL for almost a month.

Good idea. That may not possible in 2017. Maybe they will add in 2018. Even if they do, is it likely to be a daily train? More likely twice/thrice a week. The good part is that it may end up being faster than the Sanghamitra Express! :)
The difference in GN and 2S seems to Rs 350/- for the end-to-end ticket (510 vs 860). I had not checked this aspect earlier. Maybe if one can afford a GN ticket, paying for 2S is not a big ask after all.

I had not checked the difference in fare, end-to-end, before my original post. It seems to be only Rs 350 (510 vs 860). Perhaps for people doing a long distance journey on the Sanghamitra, the 2S fare is within their reach?

Arrival of 16236 Mysuru - Tuticorin Express at SBC on 3 May 2017
Slow n steady arrival... slightly early too. Loco pilot stopped half a coach early, so indicators on platform 5 for coach location ended up being incorrect.
I was getting in the way of passengers running towards the general coaches in the front

1 compliments
SWR negligence
What a sad state of affairs for one of THE oldest trains of southern India. By clubbing the rake sharing with Karnataka Express, and not providing for a spare rake in winter, throughout Jan 2017, this "Mail" has been reduced to a "Day" train so many times. Passengers be damned! Book elsewhere if you want an overnight journey! :(

Well, the sad part is, there isn't even an "elsewhere" to go. Barring a couple of days, Sunday NOT being one of them, Mail is the only overnight option for SBC-MAS. Where does the HUGE Sunday crowd vanish? None of SWR's business it seems.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
