Proposed Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram Shatabdi Express from January 2017 :
There were no talks regarding proposed Kannur-Trivandrum new Shadabdi Express, which was promised to Chief Minister by the Railway Ministry. Two months back, when the new Southern Railway General Manager visited the Chief Minister, this train was also discussed. Till now, there is no further action/discussion regarding this train. As there were only 8 stops in between, this train can reach the Destination within just 7.5 hours, as compared to 8 hours(Rajdhani Exp) or 9.5hrs(Jan-Shatabdi). If this train runs via Alappuzha, again 10 Minutes plus 12km can be saved.
It...
more... is better to run this train as "Semi-Shatabdi" Express(with 2 Sections), rather than Shadabdi or Jan-Shadabdi. 7 coaches can be Shatabdi(2 Nos. of AC Executive Chair Car, 4 Nos. of AC Chair Cars and one EOG) and 7 coaches can be Jan-Shatabdi(5 Nos. of Second Class Reserved and 2 Numbers of Second Class Un-Reserved). Means 'Shadabdi part will be fully AC, with inclusion of Food with Shatabdi features' and Jan Shadabdi part with normal Jan Shatabdi features.
The proposed timing can be as below, with Return Afternoon(CAN-TVC)-PM. (Arr/Dep) :
