It is learnt that 22636/22635 Mangaluru Central – Madgaon- Mangaluru Inter City SF Express will soon be cancelled due to poor patronage. It is possible to retain this train with some modifications of its schedule and that of 2 other trains connecting Mangalore to Bengaluru (Yeswanthpur) as follows:
• Tri-weekly Gomateshwara Express can be made a daily train between YPR & Mangalore
• Subsequently cancel tri-weekly 16515/ 16 Yeswantpur- Karwar- Yeshwantpur Day Express
• Now
run 22635/36 Intercity Express between Karawar & Mangalore Central as a connecting train to Gomateshwara Express. Both trains should connect at Mangalore Junction PF nos 2&3 for easy transfer of passengers.
• Timings:
22635 Intercity Dep Karwar 05: 30 Arr MAJN 10:50 dep 11:00 Arr MAQ 11:15 (timings of 16516)
22636 Intercity Dep MAQ 17:10 Arr MAJN 17:25 dep 17:30 Arr Karwar 23:00
The main hurdle of extending Gomateshwara Exp to Mangalore Central is non-availability of platform there in the evenings as there are multiple departure & arrival of other trains to & from Kerala side. It is possible to solve this problem by interlinking Gomateshwara Exp rake with that of 56656/ 55 Passenger trains to Kannur & back solving platform availability by rake sharing as follows:
16575 YPR-MAJN express extended upto MAQ and continues as 56656 Passenger to Kannur and returns next day as 56655 Kannur-Mangalore Passenger and this can continue as 16576 Gomateshwara Exp from MAQ to Yeshwantpur. Use Electric Locomotive for Kannur Passenger upto MAQ and Diesel Loco for onward journey of Gomateshwara thus same loco reversal at Mangalore Central can be avoided and substantial time can be saved.
• Modified timings of Gomateshwara Express (suggested):
16575 Exp Dep YPR 07:00 Arr MAJN 16:00 Dep 16:02 Arr MAQ 16:15 continue as 56656 Pass to Kannur at 16:30 and on next day return as
56655 Kannur Pass arr MAQ 10:35 continues as 16576 Exp Dep MAQ at 11:00 arr MAJN 11:15 Dep 11:20 to Yeshwantpur arr 20:15
1. Daily day train between Mangalore and Bengaluru (YPR) form present 6 days a week (3+3)
2. Daily day connection train between Karwar and Bengaluru from the present 3 days a week
3. Daily morning connection between Karwar and Mangalore from the present 3 days a week
4. Daily evening connection between Mangalore and Karwar from the present 3 days a week
5. Optimisation of rake usage by inter connecting trains and solving platform availability at MAQ
6. Passengers can board Gomateshwara Express at Mangalore Central thus easier accessibility
Constraints: Require loco change from Electric to Diesel and vice-versa at Mangalore Central but this saves time required for loco reversal other wise

Such a linking between this SF and Gomateswara, will completly alter the timings of this SF. Now its having morning dep from MAQ.. aftr ur linking proposal it wil eb dep maq in evenings.
In that case it will in anyway not help MAQ people who are to depart in morning. Its as equal as cancellation of service rite..
Then how different is it from Running Gomateswara as YPR-MAQ-Kawar/MAO daily ?? (after cancellation of 16515 and 22636). without any link arrangement.

Another Option is to combine the services of Maveli Express with MAQ MAO Intercity as TVC MAO Maveli Express with reversal at MAQ ... Will be beneficial Surely

PM for Gomateshwara rake can be done at YPR....while for 22635/36 Intercity at MAQ...there is nearly 6 hrs gap at MAQ......RSA also possible with Eranad Exp/ CBE Intercity

Thats a good option but as there is 16523 to Karwar at 9 am, patronage will will be more wiser to extend 16347 to Vasco or MAO.....the current RSA with Matsyagandha can be with Maveli or use independent rake......what about extending 12133 to RMM via newly converted under-utilised POY,PLNI, MDU....all pilgrim centers...

Trivandrum Division has laziest railway officials.....they have negative mentality when it comes to speeding up trains and introducing new ones to Kerala....even when other zones are ready to start trains these guys say Noooooooooo....... people sitting in S.Rly HQ at Chennai are also in the same boat....but they are happy to introduce trains to Tamil Nadu.............there is clear step motherly treatment to Kerala......break free from S.Rly....form seperate railway company for Kerala like Konkan Rail.......... it will have about 1060 route kms ie 310 km more than Konkan.....its high time or there wont be any major rail development in Kerala for another 100 years due to Chennai lobby....... Kerala CM please do something....use our 23 MPs to pressurise Centre...

Nobody interested in anything except may be few. Some may request for stops for long distance trains for each small stations, rail development ends there. KL could have been benefited from the congress rule. Mr. Karunakaran was powerful and he was close to Mrs.Indira/ Mr.Rajiv. That time could have been .. but nothing happend. All the time left wing will criticize right wing and some times vice versa. Every the time MPs were divided as ruling and opposition. But when Mr.Deva Gowda was PM all the MPs supported. Any thing got..? At last in Mr.Manmohan Sing government Mr.Antony was number three number two etc.. anything happend?. So nothing will get in future also unless they really need to develop.
This may
be the scenario for other states also unless the regional parties pressurised and got some benefits.

It took 20 years to complete 179 km rail line between Hassan & Bangalore via Kunigel, Shravanabelegola sanctioned by then PM H.D. Deve Gowda two decades ago !!!!!!!!!! The delay was enforced by vested interests such as the powerful Mangalore- Bangalore private bus lobby that has powerful politicians from all major ruling & opposition parties (present & past alike) and OFF-COURSE Mallya the great defaulter who ran away from India. His problem was that his Stud farm at Kunigal enroute where he breads horses for races will be split by this new line cutting through. Look how narrow minded the people are....... being a Rajyasabha member he put his gambling interests before public interests......!!!!!!!!!????????? Even now I don't think this rail route will be put for optimum use........... just because of lobbying by the powerful private bus owners........... there are about 700 private buses between towns in South Canara and Bangalore...
(an equivalent of 20 trains).......... who wants to kill a goose that lay golden eggs..........!!!!!! even at the cost of low RoI of railway money........... this unholy PPP nexus here should be addressed first............Perhaps Mangalore which is the 3rd largest city in Karnataka that is not connected properly by rail with its state capital...........
