Now a days Konkan railway has introduced a new numbering system for coach position in their stations.The new numbering system is entirely opposite to what Indian railways has been following years together.In Konkan stations,coach positions are given fixed numbers such that MUMBAI end (north) is given as 1,2,3....... and 24 at the southern end.This position is common for both directions of travel and for both platforms.Whereas in stations of other railway zones,coach positions are numbered as per the direction of the train.Now the problem is, in Konkan stations,you can not predict your coach position as per your experience or by following IR chart,because the coach position in chart preparation and numbering in Konkan platforms are not same.This makes you totally depend on Konkan information officials or the separate coach position they display in stations, if you are not sure about the coach position in a perticular train.This happened to me last...

We all know trains are still running with 25 year old timetable even after doubling of the tracks.Problem lies with the time management.What we need is a dedicated group of people who can sit together with a vision to reduce the running time and revise TT acoordingly.At present SR will never do that because touching time table of one train will make cascading effect on the other trains.SR will never take that headache unless there is a strict instruction from ministry.Till then they will continue to waste public time and keep on saying "NO" to new trains.Other wise also they can reduce unnecessary slack time between stations,for example the distance between TCR and SRR is hardly 30 KM with line doubled, all north bound trains are given 1 hour running time,even Rajadhani also not exempted from this, just because there is a division change.same is the case between Kasargod and Mangalore...

Well said. Nobody is interested to look into the real revamp of TT. Each year the new TT will be a copy paste of old except here and there. The new trains will be inserted just depends on the availability of the slot and not based on actual requirement.
Any changes to the time table also will be objected by the local passenger associations. Also they need stop each and every place for long distant SF trains.
Now the new promise is after electrification more trains and save in running time....
