One person died and another was left critical on the crowded Vadodara railway platform, teeming with fans of actor Shah Rukh Khan, who arrived on board the August Kranti Express on Monday to promote his upcoming film Raees. While the actor did not step down from the train, choosing to wave at the crowds and urged them to watch the film on a loudspeaker, fans in Vadodara swarmed the railway platforms since several hours before the scheduled arrival of the train.

much chaos and a near-stampede, in which several persons, including Sherani, collapsed. Sherani and one other man were rushed to nearby hospitals, while other suffocated people were helped by police personnel and passersby.
Sherani, who was rushed to a private hospital in Vadodara, was declared dead on arrival. Sherani was a known figure in the old city area of Vadodara and affiliated to the Samajwadi Party. He had also contested the civic elections in 2005 on a SP ticket, sources said. Among other businesses, Sherani ran a dormitory near the railway station.
Shah Rukh Khan’s visit to Vadodara was much publicised to gather the crowd as the actor announced on social media sites about his travel plans from Mumbai to New Delhi on board the August Kranti Express. The train, which arrives in Vadodara shortly after 10:15 pm every day, was running late by a couple of minutes. While fans could barely catch a glimpse of the actor, cricketers Irrfan and Yusuf Pathan got a special opportunity to meet the actor, as the film’s promotional team escorted the cricketers into the compartment to meet the actor, later sharing pictures of the two embracing the Raees star.
Two constables of the Railway police also collapsed during the chaos that ensued after SRK’s visit. The constables are undergoing treatment at SSG hospital and are said to be out of danger.
Several other persons were wounded and left bleeding during the near-stampede.

Did a journey on this train yesterday. While journey on the whole is at par, train's timetable is a joke. Reached Barejdi(BJD) at 20:35. Whereas reached ADI 5 min late. 55 min for 16 km is pathetic. Train crawled all the way from VTV to ADI. IT can easily reach ADI by 9 p.m. Authorities should really look into this.

I kind of think surge pricing is the best thing happened. Its high time for us to realize trains cant compete to planes on long sectors. IR should actually enhance this idea and altogether change the rajdhani concept. Personally I believe rajdhani should be consisted only of 3A. Whereas shatabdi should be changed to use the 2S-CC combination of Jan shatabdi. Also rajdhani could be made to accommodate sl coaches made in 2a layout for that little extra comfort. This way the middle class get a decent overnight option for large distance journey. Whereas by scrapping of 2A and 1A loss can be reduced. 1A should be absolutely scrapped as its rarely completely filled. This way airline sector can be benefited and trains could accommodate more people with surge pricing. Comments appreciated.

You are basically changing the status of Shatabdi into a Jan-Shatabdi; what's the need for that? The Shatabdis on the main route have high WL's and they'll run full inspite of surge pricing. And Rajdhanis are fully air conditioned trains; making them run with SL coaches is blasphemy. And frankly, IR makes money on the AC 3 and 2 class; not on SL class. If IR is that pressed for money, ask them to increase fares on suburban trains. Those fares are way subsidized.

This is not the solution.
This always happen. Duronto were introduced with fare a little less than rajdhani but same services. but then duronto's fare were increased and made equal to rajdhani fare. Both Rajdhani and Duronto concept were hit.
However, Suvidha or Premium concept was a Failure! Equalizing Rajdhani Fare to Suvidha is surely mad thing.

What use to happen actually was like this for example take 12951, CK Quota few seats booked, Premium CK no seats booked, and GNWL is low. It is obvious those CK and PRM CK seats would be allotted to GNWL passengers, that's what most people used to do including myself.
I have even travelled in NDLS-BCT Premium Express but paid just Rajdhani fare+41 rs extra thats it.

A train being hit is not necessarily a profit making one. You can see for yourself in bibek debroy committee reports. The problem is with 1A and 2A the subsidies given have greater negative impact than the same in sl. Most of 1A travellers are bureaucrats or politicians. This same coach if changed to 3A will surely increase revenue. The summary is that surge princin in 3A is still acceptable but in 2A its just digging your own grave. So 2A and 1A should be removed.

Most of Raj-dur-shat are actually loss making. At the end IR is not here for seeing their trains full, its the profit thats making them worried. I would sure be unhappy of my venture would remain full but is loss making one. The problem with increasing suburban fare is the most ideal one but we know that is not gonna happen. A suburban fare hike by 10% will be like digging your own grave. Ruling party know that it will be a fatal recepie and hence no ruling party has ever shown interest in that venture.

Your conclusions necessarily can't be solution of this problem. Removing 1AC n 2AC is definitely not a solution.
it is not patna or howrah route.
Rajdhani trains from South India n Mumbai dont have politicians or bureaucrats in 1AC n 2AC.
Those ppl all prefer flight including tv stars movie stars n all.
