Travelled to Udupi from Nizamuddin by Mangla Exp. Not a good experience. 26 stations on almost 40 hrs journey. Cleanliness in train was pretty bad. None cleaned it throughout the journey. Foood by Meals on Wheels was not good. Arrival time was odd. One on the night. Return journey by Sampark Kranti was very good. Only 7 stations between Mangalore and New Delhi. Cleaned several times during journey. Was perhaps outsourced. Food was tolerably good by IRCTC. Was punctual.

I think it's 1963 or 1964. I remember reading about this in an AC3 coach of Lucknow Mail itself. They had placed a small information board showing th history of this train.
