CM seeks PM’s intervention
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene to set up an exclusive railway zone for Kerala with Ernakulam as the headquarters for expediting the development of the railway network of the State. In a letter to the Prime Minister and Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, the Chief Minister said the railway divisions of Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad can be merged to set up the peninsular zone. The zone should include the rail corridor from Kanyakumari to Mangaluru, he pointed out.
Mr. Vijayan urged
them to end the move to hand over the Thiruvananthapuram-Tirunelveli and Nagercoil-Kanyakumari railway lines to the adjacent Madurai railway division.

I beg to differ here . Mangaluru has enough pitlines , 3 are there but only the Madgao and Matsyagandha express is the useful express train operated by Southern Railway. Remaining trains are all used for Kerala passengers only.
The trains you said like Kannur Kachiguda , Karwara Madras will not be much useful and it will occupy the slots at Shiradi Ghats. We Kannadigas first need two Mangaluru Bidar express via Raichur , Chitradurga, Arsikere and other one via Madgaon Hubli Hospet Bijapur Solapura. One dedicated Mangalore Bangalore trains. Karwar and Coastal Karnataka people are heavily dependent on Bengaluru, Mumbai and Karnataka places mostly. Madras Karwar is not needed via Bengaluru, it can be via the Kerala route itself.

what i telling is in PGT division only MAQ has infra to handle. but MAQ load is not splitted anywhere. but whole north KL load is in MAQ.
agree MAQ needs intera state trains such bidar MAQ SBC MAQ . as it passing via ghats i extended to other destinations. which also gives MAQ better connectivity. MAQ KCG can be CAN SC via MAJN ASK UBL GTL RC SEEDAM SC. MAQ bidar can come via londa UBL BJP . kind of split load. SBC MAQ one ONT and MAS MAJN Karwar like latenight ONT from SBC. but nothing came that is problem.

Yes , They can develop Kannur or kasargod.
" MAQ KCG can be CAN SC via MAJN ASK UBL GTL RC SEEDAM SC. MAQ bidar can come via londa UBL BJP . kind of split load. SBC MAQ one ONT and MAS MAJN Karwar like latenight ONT from SBC" - These traisn will help other state people only. Now no Mangaluru jana gets seat in Bengaluru night train , thanks to SR. Let it terminate in Mangaluru itself , Sameway Madras Karwar is not needed, then Bengaluru will get less quota and Chennai people will occupy general coaches. Tamilnadu and Kerala have enough trains from Karnataka. For lagging places , they choose transit. We want Karnataka connectivity first.

many coastal karnataka people working in chennai boss consider for them too. In an limited environment when we cant give seperate trains one way is to give trains from various destinations but passing through common point. Example take Delhi JAT. u can see trains sharing common slot but from different destinations. hope u know how some people in CBE books for chennai overnight trains if cheran blue mountain filled.
**TN KL have sufficient trains for karnataka** just for bangalore and mangaloru because of its promiximity. Kindly show an dedicated daily from UBL or SMET or BJP from ERS or MAS or TVC or MDU.
KARWAR MAS/MS SBC/YPR/BYPL can given dedicated RLWL with master share on both direction. just like MS in MQ BQKT.
I understand ur state pride. but see them as connectivity rather than thinking those region people only use trains not ours.

Who said you that ample coastal Karnataka people work in Chennai. Get your facts correct before saying some things . I'm from coastal Karnataka , I know better. We want Mumbai and Bangalore connection , that's it . We never want daily train to Tamilnadu or Kerala . We people are very happy with our government , Bangalore gives us everything. We never sought any daily train from Hubli to Chennai or Ernakulam. We want Hubli to Bangalore train only. When there is a restriction , that too in Karnataka , we want our benefit first rather that Kannur or Madras . Get them first . Again I'm saying , we need daily connection from Coast or Hubli only to Bangalore , not to Kannur or Madras. We don't need all those Delhi Coimbatore stories. If Tamil crowds want to work in coastal Karnataka , ask SR to introduce a new...
train or extend only of daily trains from Mangaluru to Karwar or Beyond. For us , Bangalore is the first priority.

Railway Board has no authority to change Parliament’s decision, say petitioners
The issue of getting Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) its original jurisdiction, up to Mangaluru Junction (Kankanady), gained momentum after the High Court of Karnataka recently ordered issue of notices to the Union government and others in a public interest writ petition.
A Division Bench comprising Raghavendra Chauhan and K.S. Dinesh Kumar passed the order in a review petition filed by Rajeev Gaonkar of Kumta and Hanumanth Kamath of Mangaluru, according to petitioners’ advocate R.G. Kolle. The petitioners have sought to revive
an earlier writ petition which was disposed of by the court in 2014 on technical grounds.
While KRCL was created and its jurisdiction was fixed by Parliament, the Railway Board, without any authority of law or parliamentary nod or the approval of the Union Cabinet, unilaterally decided to exclude the 24-km line between Thokur and Mangaluru from its jurisdiction and bring it under Southern Railway’s jurisdiction, the petitioners said. Terming it fraud played on investors of KRCL bonds, the petitioners sought the court’s direction to restore KRCL’s original jurisdiction.
Affected finances
The Railway Board’s decision to exclude the 24-km has severely affected KRCL’s financial health, which has been incurring huge losses every year. New Mangalore Port (NMP), a huge revenue generating centre, falls within the excluded portion, from which the Southern Railway is getting huge income at present. Had NMP been under KRCL, the corporation would have repaid all its debts and been in a healthy position to provide a host of passenger amenities, they said. The petitioners pointed out that during the November 16, 1993 public issue of KRCL bonds, the Railway Ministry had clearly stated that KRCL would build and operate a 760-km broadgauge line between Roha (excluding) in Maharashtra and Kankanady (including) in Karnataka.
Earlier, the Railway Board had said that KRCL’s jurisdiction would end near Mangaluru Central Railway Station and in 1993, it had stated that KRCL would built and operate the Mangaluru bypass line, from Netravathi Cabin to Kankanady. Participating State governments and the general public believed in these statements, they said.
Things being so, the Railway Board unilaterally on December 20, 1995 excluded the 24-km stretch from Thokur to Kankanady from KRCL’s jurisdiction and brought it under Southern Railway. Ever since the commissioning of the line in January 1998, the corporation is incurring losses.
The petitioners sought directions to bring the 24-km of excluded line under KRCL, make Mangaluru the corporation’s headquarters and reimburse KRCL Rs. 4,000 crore that it lost to Southern Railway all these years.

If KR had repaid its debts, then Mangaluru to Karwar would have been under SWR as there were some news that Konkan railway might be dissolved after it had repaid the debts

KR shall not be able to pay its debts unless Manglore is brought under its jurisdiction. It does not have a single major freight loading destination not it has a single city with even 5 lacs population. So no significant originating paxs as well as freight! It is catch 22 situation.
KR has a much better work culture than normal IR working, if it is merged that work culture may be lost.

KR may have better work culture but KR is not thinking beyond Karmali/Madgaon. Current special trains are terminating at Karmali,Sawantwadi,Ratnagiri and so on. Many people from Coastal Karnataka works at Mumbai , KR could have extended one special dedicated to Goa atleast till Udupi.
KR should have made Karwar as a terminal which has nt happened.
Erstwhile Mangaluru was supposed to be under in KRCL but due to the politics of PGT and SR , it remained with SR
