Prime Minister likely to launch the project on the Miyapur-Ameerpet-Nagole stretch
It is not often that two major capital roads get blocked for traffic. The closure of Ameerpet and Oliphenta Bridge is an indication that metro rail authorities are going full steam ahead to complete two sections of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) by November.

ceremony later this year. Although details are still under wraps, the government wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch the project as he is being expected here for the forthcoming Global Financial Summit and to inaugurate the giant 216 ft Sri Ramanuja statue at Muchintal in Shamshabad.
For L&T Metro Rail (L&TMRH) and HMR engineers, it is now a race against time because the key station to be completed in the next four months will be Ameerpet, one of the three metro interchange stations where Miyapur - L.B.Nagar line (15 metres/50 ft in ht) will go over Nagole-Raidurg line (10 metres/33 ft). MGBS and Parade Grounds being other two. Metro rail officials were considering to pass over Ameerpet (30 metres/100 ft from ground) considering the complex task involved in building two overhead stations one over the other with national highway below as the government wanted the entire Corridor One to be completed.
“Ameerpet interchange stations cannot be bypassed, so we have redrawn our schedules. We have pressed in additional men (200) and equipment to work round the clock, weather permitting, in the months ahead. It is going to be a Herculean effort,” confided senior engineers, pleading anonymity. Apart from telecom and power cable works, stations too have to get ready along these routes. Besides, trial runs have to take place for at least a month before safety certification is issued by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety for commercial operations to begin.
In the meantime, engineers intend to complete stationing steel bridge across Oliphenta rail bridge and stations en route like Begumpet. Alongside these two routes, a complete spruce up of civic infrastructure like footpaths, barricades, bus and auto bays, street furniture, signages, etc., are to be completed.

About 5.44 crore riders moved on the Multi-Modal Transport Services (MMTS) trains last year or about 1.6 lakh passengers a day. While everyone is talking about phase II works, the first phase which connected Secunderabad-Nampally-Falaknuma-Lingampally moved into a momentous 15th year.

About 121 trains of nine coaches each run on the Secunderabad-Hyderabad-Lingampalli (28 km) and Secunderabad-Falaknuma (15 km) routes everyday. Frequency of the trains continues to be an issue with the railways stating that the current infrastructure does not permit either to increase the frequency or to operate more trains and assure better services once phase II is completed.
“Problem is mostly in the morning peak hours because of arrival of trains and a ladies special, which means between 8.20 a.m. and 9.40 a.m. there are no trains. Otherwise, frequency is once every half hour or more depending on other train traffic. We need dedicated tracks for MMTS,” says K. Vijayaraghavan, an IT professional and active member of the Travellers Group.
Other issues continue to dog the project despite increasing patronage over the years. From 7,000 riders a day initially, the number has been increasing to the current capacity with 5 crore riders annually in the last few years netting South Central Railway (SCR) up to ₹30 crore operating revenue. “Critics were many for this project and it was said citizens would never patronage this service but look how it has become a vital transport system. It has a potential to move more than 5 lakh riders if stakeholders can bring about key changes,”says Hyderabad Metro Rail MD N.V.S. Reddy and former MMTS Project Director.
Feeder services were provided by RTC for some time along with an integrated common pass but rather than fine tuning the system when pinpricks arose, the whole support service had collapsed with no common ticket or a reliable feeder service other than autos at stations.
“We have been urging the government to work with SCR and RTC to ensure feeder services at all MMTS stations to provide the last mile connectivity,” says Kalyan, another Travellers Group member. While co-owners SCR and government have ignored the anniversary, it is this Group which celebrated the day with cutting of a cake inside an MMTS train in the presence of key railway officers on Wednesday.
Among the issues brought to the notice of the officials was to provide reservation for senior citizens in first class, ladies and disabled cars and reduce parking fees as the monthly charge is ₹700 and ₹40 for two hours for a bike.
Regular riders have also called for frequent announcements about the MMTS train movements in stations other than the terminal stations of Secunderabad/Lingampally, etc., and adequate display on the electronic information boards.

Hyderabad Metro Rail might currently be under construction and is yet to swing under action. However, it has managed to grab a place in the Limca Book of Records.
Adding three feats to its name in the Limca Book of Records, the L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (LTMRHL) is the first Metro Rail Project to get featured in the Limca Records.

Wrap advertisement during the pre-commissioning stage when three coaches of the first train of HMR during its trail run between Nagole and Mettuguda stations featured the footwear brand Centro for three months from August 7 to November 11, 2014.
LTMRHL signed the agreement with Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd (Coke) for pouring rights of all 64 stations on HMR for the first seven years. 
The agreement with Shreyas Broadcasting Pvt Ltd was signed during the early construction phase of the project giving TV5 the exclusive right to be played at the metro stations.

South Central Railway (SCR) will be running 26 special trains between Secunderabad and Vijayawada between July 2 and September 24 for the convenience of the passengers. These trains 07757s will start from Secunderabad at 5.30 a.m. and reach Vijayawada at 10.45 a.m. the same day.

very bad experience with 07758 on 5/21, sunday train reached sc one hour late (12 am) though it started right time at gnt, as usual no one knows cause of the delay and scr least bothered about informing same to passengers.
