I am newbie to this site. Can anyone please guide me about meaning of various notations used on this site such as +/_ figures under the xfer delay, what is the meaning of +/- figures under shift in chains and what is the meaning of average? It will be very useful if this kind of info is made available for new joiners. I am planning my first long distance family trip and thanks to this site I was able to look for connecting trains. But I am confused as to which trains/chains should i select as I don't know the meaning of these notations. Thank you guys, whoever has made this web site.

Welcome to IRI.
Avg after Dep column indicates average departure delay in minutes. The Xfer Arr/Dep delay is again indicated by + and no. of minutes delay at the changeover station. The Avg in Arrival column indicates the avg. arrival delay / early at that particular station.

The Shift is the difference in average delay time at changeover station.
Lets say a train A Express arrives at XYZ station at an average delay of 10 mins. The average delay of connecting train B Express is 20 minutes. Hence the Shift in this case is +10 as you gain 10 more minutes for the changeover.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...

It has been over 2 weeks since the appointment of the current batch of FMs and 750 Complaints have been handled so far. It gives me immense pleasure in congratulating them for running the team diligently, professionally, competently and above all, without a shred of controversy or bias. The FM position...
