In the food stall by Rail aahar, there is no concern for change. Though the prices appear cheap, the quantity is less; but have to agree its ok when compared to other outlets.
Rathna cafe is open till 1:30 AM and starts again at around 3:45AM. Be ware that the parcel idlis in boxes are something in the shelf till they get sold. Morning few boxes of idlis and sambar vessels arrive. But they are served for the people who consume it there only. If you want parcel, you will get old stock for sure. (I was sitting in front of Rathna Cafe for the entire night from 10:30 PM to morning 6:00 AM) About 90 Rs for 2 iddlis is really

No need to worry about the problem of no food stalls in Santragachi or proper hotels near station in first platform side. As soosn the train starts moving you will start getting snacks and order for dinner will be taken. Food quality and quantity is ok. I had a feeling that salt was less. Price as usual, you know how much they charge.

Travelled from MAS to CBE. Punctuality is good. Though it got delayed by 10-15 minutes in between in some stations, the speed after Tirupur was horrifying. Reached CBE well on time.
Travelled on a sunday, right from MAS hardly some seats were found vacant in the entire train, and hence could imagine how crowded it would be on week days.
Some unreserved passengers board in 2S coaches, mostly they stand near doors and few try to occupy seats.

is much much better than those stalls available in central station (price, taste, quantitywise). I found a food packet with ARENCO catering seal. But didnt see the vendors with ARENCO badges. (THose who have travelled in 12677 Intercity know very well about ARENCO).
Those who are taller than 6 feet or bulkier would find difficulty in 2S. If so give a try in CC.
