can we board the originating place of the journey for which we had bought the ticket choosing 2nd or 3rd stations as boarding points/stations

how come we had paid for from the original point of the journey - ?
suppose the distance from the original point to boarding point is covered under distance restriction i.e. no reservation is allowed for that short distance - then can we board the original point instead of chosen boarding point which may be next station...?
