Sangli railway station has three platforms which are idle most of the time. CR has scope to start passenger trains from Sangli to Pandharpur, Belgaum, Solapur, Latur, Kurduwadi, Londa. This will connect Sangli city and nearby areas and facilitate trade and commerce. It will boost economy of the region.
Large number of people go from Sangli to Pandharpur, Kurduwadi, Solapur and Latur. Broad gauge rail line connecting Sangli to Solapur is operational since last 10 years. But there is no direct train from Sangli railway station to these places. Request CR to immediately start passenger train connecting Sangli and Solapur which are two major cities of South Maharashtra. This train will also benefit farmers and traders who come from small towns to Sangli APMC Market which is just besides Sangli railway station. Also, people from Sangli who visit Pandharpur will also get direct train.
CR Pune Division is finding it very difficult to manage Pune station that it hardly pays any attention to 330 km Pune-Miraj-Kolhapur section that it acquired from SCR some years back. CR Pune Division concentrates only on PUNE Railway station and starts trains only from Pune towards North India. No trains are extended to Miraj Jn even years after Miraj junction was handed over to Pune division. Howrah Pune express, Lucknow Pune express, Bilaspur Pune express and Patna Pune express are still not extended to Miraj Jn. Indore Pune Express is also not extended to Miraj Jn. There is urgent need of creating a separate Miraj division which consists of Nira-Miraj-Kolhapur, Pandharpur-Miraj and Phaltan-Lonand sections.

Yesterday Mr. S K Sood of CR has visited Miraj Junction where Miraj Railway Kruti Samiti has demanded the Miraj Division. Application regarding the same has been handed over to him. He has asked his staff to immediately look at the demand. Seems there is great hope for people of South Maharashtra after creation of Miraj Railway Division.

Mr. Sood visited PUNE as well. Creation of new division is not so easy, many issues need to be address. At the most, he will instruct SM of MRJ to provide better facilities. Also he will instruct DRM PUNE to look after MRJ/KOP.

Sangli has got one Union Minister, Three State Cabinet Ministers and Speaker of Legistative Assembly. Still the demand of making Miraj junction as a separate railway division not been fulfilled. These ministers are doing what ?

Reason for not extending Pune trains to Miraj, can be the pressure and understanding between volvo bus operators and IR. Same happens in MAQ-SBC sector and CBE-SBC sector in South.

1. Delhi Baroda Pune Miraj Hubli Bangalore
2. Delhi Baroda Pune Miraj Madgaon Trivandrum

I ve already suggested that 12629 can run from pune via bsr, brc, kota nzm. Saves lots of time. Plus better route, no loco reversal required like pune dd mmr route. Plus can go from pune to nzm with 3 or 4 stops.
All parts of Maharashtra have Rajdhani - e.g. even a small town like Ratnagiri is connected by Rajdhani. But metro city Pune and emerging mini metro cities like Sangli of Maharashtra and Belgaum of Karnataka do not have any Rajdhani kind of train. This is injustice to the people of Western Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka.

Onboard in 16566.. Horrible... S2 to S5 is empty... In S1 and S7 have some people... In 2AC only 2 passengers.. In 3AC have little more passengers... All general coaches are occupied.. But no rush...

Miraj Hubli Managalore has no train after conversion to BG.
Miraj to Trivandrum via Madgaon also there is no train.
Similarly no train between Vasco and Howrah or Guwahati after conversion of Miraj Latur to BG.
Also no connectivity between Goa and Bhuvaneswar after conversion of Miraj Kurduwadi.
