A massive protest by hundreds of men, women and children was held in south Goa’s Chandor village over the doubling of the railway line to Karnataka. Protesters sat on a railway track, where work was set to begin for doubling of tracks on Sunday night. The protestors lit candles and spent the night on the rail tracks until dawn to prevent the rail staff from beginning work. There were protesters who beat drums and danced in traditional Goan style.Top police officials including South Goa Superintendent of Police also failed to pacify the protesters. According to the protesters under the banner of 'Goyant Kollso Naka' (GKN-don't want coal in Goa), the doubling of track works between Vasco in Goa to Hospet in Karnataka’s Ballari is being undertaken solely for the purpose of transporting coal from the state to neighbouring Karnataka. the Congress, Goa Forward Party and the AAPSunday night’s protests are also against the environmental destruction, which residents and environmental groups allege will take place to make way for projects common to both states.
According to the environmental group, Greens, nearly 50,000 trees within the eco sensitive Western Ghats region are set to be felled for expansion of railway lines, highways (NH-4A) and drawing of a new high tension power spread across protected forests in and around Mollem village. The railway doubling line even involves cutting of trees in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and a national park on the border of the state. The projects have already been cleared by the National Wildlife Board for Wildlife in April much to the dismay of environmental activists who have now approached the courts.The opposition parties, civil society groups and tourism stakeholder bodies have also expressed apprehension about these projects being pushed at an "express pace" to facilitate movement of coal imported through the Mormugao Port Trust facility in Goa to steel mills in Karnataka's Ballari.

If they protest and stall doubling then coal, iron products will be routed to Krishnapatnam port already FeDL exists for major route length and the branch line of nearly 200km is solely used for cargo. What goal loses KSPL will gain only thing need to see is transportation cost inland and water land via east and west coast.

Private Trains are going to be introduced in India by 2023.Railway Board already selected some of its routes for Private Trains. Generally, these are those trains which are run by Private Companies of India. Very companies showed interest to run their trains in the Indian Railways network. As of now we are assuming that the fare of Private Trains is quite high like same as Rajdhani Express/Vande Bharat Express like premium trains. But now there is a bad news comming for the passengers.The fare of these private trains will be set by thier companies.

example Adani Group starts a train in India then its fare were also be set by Adani Group. Train travel in India is cheapest in the World. One can travel 1000km in trains in India as low as in 300 rupees and it can go upto 3700 rupees depending on the class and type of the train. But now the fare of Private Train will totally depend on their company. Generally it will be higher than premium trains like Rajdhani/Shatabdi Express.

Railways open up to private players, the government has decided to allow these companies to set the travel fare for passengers when the begin operations, in a bid to invite investors.VK Yadav, chairman of India’s Railway Board, made the announcement on Thursday.

If fares are high travellers will not prefer private train in that route and look for IR train or prefer to fly if there is nearest shorter distances travellers will prefer to travel by own vehicles if distances upto 400km where they are good highways. High fares will be during festive days where heavy demand is one sided and it's called surge demand.

हावड़ा से अमृतसर के बीच चलने वाली पार्सल स्पेशल ट्रेन अब धनबाद होकर चलेगी। 31 अगस्त से यह बदलाव होगा। इस दिन अमृतसर से चलने वाली पार्सल स्पेशल धनबाद होकर चलेगी। वापसी में हावड़ा-अमृतसर पार्सल स्पेशल ट्रेन तीन सितंबर से वाया धनबाद चलेगी। अब तक इस ट्रेन को हावड़ा से अमृतसर के बीच मेन लाइन पर चलाया जा रहा था। ट्रेन आसनसोल व पटना रूट पर चल रही थी। अब इसके रूट में बदलाव कर दिया गया है। रेलवे बोर्ड ने सभी संबंधित जोन को इससे जुड़ा भी जारी कर दिया है।
दूसरी ओर, धनबाद के पार्सल ठेकेदारों से रेलवे ने पार्सल ट्रेन चलाने या पार्सल यानी जोड़ने से जुड़े सुझाव भी मांगे हैं। रेलवे की इस पहल के बाद स्थानीय पार्सल
ठेकेदारों ने दिल्ली के लिए ट्रेन चलाने के साथ-साथ धनबाद अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस का परिचालन शुरू करने का प्रस्ताव दिया है। ठेकेदारों की ओर से बताया गया है कि अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस मार्च महीने से बंद है। इस वजह से दक्षिण भारत से आने वाले सामान नहीं मंगवा पा रहे हैं। इससे काफी परेशानी हो रही है। इसके स्थाई समाधान के लिए अलेप्पी एक्सप्रेस को चलाया जाए

The Maharashtra govt has begun acquiring land for the 233-km rail project which would bring down travel time between the two cities from the present 6-7 hours to under two hours.
Looking to revive its economy which has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, the Maharashtra government has put on the fast track its large infrastructure projects. One of these is the delayed Pune-Nashik semi-high speed rail link, which would bring down travel time between two of the state’s most important cities from the present six-seven hours to under two hours, boosting passenger and freight movement and facilitating the creation of a Mumbai-Pune-Nashik golden triangle and economic hub.
as the first low-cost semi-high speed corridor in the country, the 233-km-long line would cost Rs 16,039 crore and see trains running at a speed of 200kmph, with its design allowing for an upgrade to 250kmph in the future. It would be constructed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), a 50:50 joint venture between the government of Maharashtra and the Ministry of Railways. The state and the Centre would provide Rs 3,208 crore each for the project and the rest would come from funding agencies in India and overseas.
It was to answer the long-pending demand for a rail link between Pune and Nashik that the state government approved the project in 2017. But it was only after the Indian Railways green-lighted the project in June 2020 that preparations got off the ground. Jolted by the damaging effects of the pandemic, the government has put land acquisition work on the fast track, says Pune’s Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, highlighting Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s recent remarks about work being expedited for the ‘high priority’ project.
In all, 1,470 hectares of land would be required in Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts, Rao says—the rail line would pass through 112.10 km in Pune, 58 km in Ahmednagar and 63.75 km in Nashik. Around 575 hectares has to be acquired in Pune’s Haveli, Junnar and Ambegaion tehsils. “We will need around Rs 1,300-1,500 crore for acquiring this land,” he says, with the money to be made available by the Indian Railways.
MRIDC officials are confident of completing the project in 1,200 days once construction work starts. To save time, MRIDC would carry out in-house design and drawing work, doing away with consultants. It would also be the first such rail project to see both the lines being constructed simultaneously.
The broad-gauge line would start at the Pune Railway Station and terminate at the existing Nashik Railway Station, with 24 stations in all. There would be multimodal hubs at major railway stations along the route, ensuring connectivity to bus terminuses, metro stations and freight terminals.
MRIDC plans to procure six train sets with six coaches each, allowing a passenger load of 450 per journey. Revenue from the line is estimated at Rs 1,643 crore in FY25 and Rs 2,394 crore in FY30. The rail link between Pune and Nashik is expected to decongest NH 60 which sees movement of 51,000 tonnes of freight every day, passing through around a dozen industrial and agro processing zones. Passenger movement between Pune and Nashik is estimated to reach 87,629 a day in 2024, of which around 27,515 are expected to shift to rail in FY24, with the number going up to 36,678 by FY30.

2040 is a long way the target is to be 2030 for 200kmph lines while for 130kmph 2023 160kmph 2027. India needs 12000km of lines to be quardrapuled with speed increase to 130kmph by 2025.

Dont think 4 line are required 3 can be managed. 2 down line from Maula Ali to SC and 1 in reverse. As part of MMTS an extra line is laid from charlapalli. As SC station getting PF is difficult for Express trains separate MMTS line is required which can be used in morning rush hours. While trains leaving SC are given full signals they can easily get past Charlapalli.

Private operators who will be handed over 150 trains to ply on 109 routes by the Railways will have the freedom to choose halt stations of the trains they operate, documents released by the national transporter have shown.

However, the private operators have to submit in advance to the Railways the list of such intermediate stations on the trains' paths where they are proposing halts in advance.

The private operators also have to provide the time in and time out at the intermediate railway stations, which shall form part of the train operation plan. This has to be submitted in advance and will be in place for at least a year, after which it can be revised, a draft of the Concession Agreement has said
The Concessionaire shall have the flexibility in deciding the stops/ halts in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Concession Agreement," the Railways has said in reply to a query by one of the private players who attended pre-application meetings.

The Railways has also said the number of such halts of the private trains will not be more than the number of existing halts of the fastest train of the Railways operating in that route. The train operation plan submitted by private operators will also have to include the stations at which the water tanks in the trains need to be filled and also the railway stations, washing lines or stabling lines, as the case maybe, at which the train toilets would be evacuated.As earlier reported by PTI, the fares for private trains that are scheduled to begin operations by 2023 will not be regulated by any authority and will be decided by the private operators depending on market conditions.

Bombardier Transportation India, Siemens Limited, Alstom Transport India Ltd are among the 23 firms that have evinced interest in running private trains.

The first-of-its-kind venture, the project to bring in private players to run trains is expected to see private sector investment of around ₹30,000 crore.

The 109 pairs of routes have been formed into 12 clusters that will cover major parts of the Indian Railways network. The aim of the project is to upgrade passenger experience on the railway network to world-class standards, with modern train rakes, most of which will be manufactured in the country under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Indian Railways will earn by charging the private entity fixed haulage charges and energy charges as per actual consumption. The national transporter will also get a share in the gross revenue which will be decided through a transparent bidding process.

As of now, the private train operator would need to access the Railway’s PRS (passenger reservation system) for management and distribution of its ticket inventory. For usage of such reservation system, they may have to pay a charge to the Indian Railways, the document said.
