Sep 10 (10:05)   Railways plans to run more trains to airport

Bengaluru Railway Division plans to set up a crossing station at Doddajala. to run more trains to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) halt station, and has sent a proposal to the Railway Board, said divisional railway manager, Bengaluru Division, Ashok Kumar Verma. The KIA halt station is set to open by September-end. The reopening of suburban services is unlikely to start by then but the station will commence operations. Airport operator, Bangalore International Airport Limited, plans to run shuttle buses from the halt station to the terminal.
Prior to the shutdown of train operations in March, three trains ran along this route —two along the Kolar-Yelahanka line and one along the Whitefield- Kolar line. “They will halt here when operations start again.
Depending on the patronage we will be able to run six or seven trains from the city to KIA,” Verma said.
“To ensure more trains run along this single line, we have proposed a crossover station at Doddajala station. It will cost us up to Rs 10 crore. The Railway Board is likely to announce it in the next railway budget,” Verma added.
Urban transport expert Sanjeev Dyammanavar said there was an urgent need to electrify the section between Yelahanka and Devanahalli as many surrounding stretches have been electrified. “Once that is done, multiple electric unit (MEMU) trains can be run to the airport from even as far as Mysuru,” he said.
Just Rs 20 A ticket on a suburban train from the city to the halt station would not exceed Rs 20, the DRM said.

Sep 04 (08:44)   Busy Baiyappanahalli terminal likely to get new four-lane road

It would link both the sides, making it convenient for passengers to reach their destinations from the station.
In a bid to handle the massive congestion that could set in once the Baiyappanahalli Third Coaching Terminal is opened, a plan to convert the existing narrow road connecting the two sides of the terminal into a four-lane road, has been proposed.
It would link both the sides, making it convenient for passengers to reach their destinations from the station. Speaking to TNIE, a senior railway official said that the Chief Secretary – who visited
the terminal for inspection on Saturday – has asked the BBMP to construct a road here to handle expected passenger traffic in future.A senior BBMP official confirmed this development, saying, “The four-lane road, with a width of 18 metres, will connect Mukunda Theatre on Banaswadi Main Road and Old Madras Road. It’ll run to a length of 2.2 km. With the station in the middle, both ends will be connected.” The existing road is quite narrow and it leads from Baiyappanahalli village to the Old Madras Road, he added.
Another senior railway official said that the Railways expects daily footfalls to touch around one lakh, once the terminal becomes fully functional. “We are targeting completion of the terminal by October-end, but it could take a little longer too.
This road, however, is crucial for decongesting the traffic here.” Asked about the timeline, another BBMP official mentioned it could take long. “Land needs to be acquired first for the roads. The Railway Over Bridge above Mukunda Theatre has to be widened and much infrastructure work needs to be carried out at Baiyappanahalli village as well. Defence land needs to be asked for again, in order to widen the Old Madras Road,” he added.

Aug 22 (18:47)   Critical measures to boost Bengaluru's Airport line

Beyond the Halt Station, several critical infrastructure upgrades should be taken up to maximise the benefits of the airport rail link. Here’s a look at the projects that require urgent attention:
Upgrade Doddajala to Crossing Station
Currently, the 24-km route from Yelahanka to Devanahalli is single track, with three stations on the way. However, all the three, Bettahalasur, Doddajala and the new Airport Station, are halt stations. This implies that when a train is on this track, no other train can get on to the 24-km stretch.
this constraint, only one train can be operated every 30 minutes. To boost the frequency of trains, Doddajala will have to be upgraded to a crossing station since it is almost at the centre of the 24-km line. The estimated cost for this project is about Rs 10 crore.
Road access to Halt Station
The Halt Station has no proper road access from the National Highway, which is less than 500m away. Ensuring two-way access is critical for people from surrounding areas to take the train.
Yelahanka – Devanahalli electrification
Already approved, this electrification project will have to be implemented quickly, so that MEMU trains from surrounding towns can reach Devanahalli directly. For instance, an electrified line will help a train from Mysuru reach the Halt Station within three hours.

Man I would tell better extend all SBC MYS, MKM SBC MEMUs to Devanahalli.

More trains via Devanahalli, Chikkaballapur, Kolar as they have a bit less connectivity though they are important cities

some trains like SUR HAS instead of going to HAS, it can end at DHL with LR at YNK. Gomateshwara express to DHL....

YNK Devanahalli Electrification is gonna start soon

Aug 14 (09:28)   Travel to Bengaluru airport from city railway station for ₹30

The new station near KIA. BIAL will provide a shuttle service from the station to the airport.
If all goes as planned, air passengers and employees working at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will soon be able to travel from Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna City Railway Station to the airport.
What’s more, the ticket will be priced at just ₹30. South Western Railways (SWR) is planning to introduce express train services to KIA, once the Central government allows resumption of services. Ongoing construction work of the halt station on the boundary of the airport
is likely to be completed by September.
E. Vijaya, Chief PRO of SWR, told The Hindu that the service to the airport will be prioritised once operations are allowed to resume. “There is a plan to introduce an express train service from Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna station to the airport during peak hours. The timings will be finalised after consulting with Bangalore International Airport Limited.”
The express train will be operated via Yeshwantpur and the travel time will be around 30 to 35 minutes. The distance between Majestic and KIA is around 35 km. This will come as a relief to commuters. During peak hours it takes more than an hour to reach the airport by road, and people are saddled with a huge fare at the end of the journey.
Currently, a passenger wishing to travel to KIA from Majestic has to pay as much as ₹235 for a ticket on BMTC’s Vayu Vajra.
Operating a train service to the airport has been a long-pending demand. For over a decade, a majority of air passengers and employees have been relying on taxi and private modes of transport to travel to the airport. After persistent demands, the authorities decided to build the halt station on Yelahanka–Kolar section. Hundreds of people in Bengaluru Rural and Kolar districts, who commute to the airport campus every day, will benefit.
Ms. Vijaya said already six scheduled trains from Yelahanka to Kolar will have a stop at the new halt station. It will cost only ₹10 to travel from Yelahanka to KIA once the services become operational.
The new halt station is located between Devanahalli and Dodajala stations. “Work is likely to be completed by September 20. BIAL is building the station at a cost of ₹3 crore, and it will have all the basic amenities,” she said.
BIAL has agreed to provide a shuttle service for the air passengers from the station to the airport and it will take eight minutes to reach the airport terminal from the point. “The service is also expected to help a large number of employees working inside the airport campus that include in cargo and other sectors,” said Ms. Vijaya.

A specific PF at BNC or YPR is no problem
But SBC has lot of problems. It's difficult to give a specific PF's is difficult. Lot of traffic movement and restricted PFs to YPR side makes it difficult

Trains starting from BNC have 2 options, either 1A or 3.
Problem with SBC is 1 is used for prioritized trains like Lalbagh, Sanghamitra, KK, Udyan, Chennai Mail, Brindavan.......
PF 2 and 3 are used for other trains originating from SBC
PF 4 is majorly used for arrivals which would be shunted for Maintanance
5 and 6 are busy with Mysuru Bound trains
PF 7 is used for MEMU, Passengers, Shatabdi and Uday
PF 8 is majorly used for arrivals from YPR side and departure towards Mysuru side and prioritized train departures like JS and Namma Raj
PF 9 is used for arrivals from Mysuru Side and Departure towards YPR
PF 10 is used for passengers and less priority trains like Vishwamanava

So you cannot get the same PF every time.....
Most of the trains do not get the same PF daily... Especially the ones using 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Yaa agree with your point, we need more trains from Mangaluru to other parts of Karnataka. Mangaluru being a major city in Karnataka, has poor connectivity with the rest of the state
