Kerala is likely to get three special trains to Chennai and Delhi soon. It is reported that the official order regarding this will be released soon. Thiruvananthapuram - Delhi Kerala express, Thiruvananthapuram - Chennai and Mangalore - Chennai will be the new trains. The service
of the new trains may start next weekThere were complaints that when 86 new trains were allotted in the country, Kerala was not even allowed one train. The decision to cancel the
Jan Shatabdi and Venad Express in the state was also controversial. Although this decision was reversed

later, no new trains were alloted to the state.
Railways stated that new trains will be allotted if there is more than 25 percent of passengers in the state. Railways also stated that more number
of stops will be increased for the trains, if the state demands it.
Meanwhile, many trains are running without adequate passenegrs in Kerala. But, in states like Tamil Nadu, the reservation status of passengers, other than in AC compartments, goes to the waiting.
Discussions have been held with the General Manager of Southern Railways to allot more trains in the state. He assured that 3 trains will be started by next week in Kerala. The number of passengers are low in Kerala as there are limited stops in special trains. More stops can be allowed if health workers are deployed in more stations. The government has to take care of this, said PK Krishnadas, Chairman of Passenger
Amenities Committee.

Sep 04 (08:44)   Busy Baiyappanahalli terminal likely to get new four-lane road

It would link both the sides, making it convenient for passengers to reach their destinations from the station.
In a bid to handle the massive congestion that could set in once the Baiyappanahalli Third Coaching Terminal is opened, a plan to convert the existing narrow road connecting the two sides of the terminal into a four-lane road, has been proposed.
It would link both the sides, making it convenient for passengers to reach their destinations from the station. Speaking to TNIE, a senior railway official said that the Chief Secretary – who visited

the terminal for inspection on Saturday – has asked the BBMP to construct a road here to handle expected passenger traffic in future.A senior BBMP official confirmed this development, saying, “The four-lane road, with a width of 18 metres, will connect Mukunda Theatre on Banaswadi Main Road and Old Madras Road. It’ll run to a length of 2.2 km. With the station in the middle, both ends will be connected.” The existing road is quite narrow and it leads from Baiyappanahalli village to the Old Madras Road, he added.
Another senior railway official said that the Railways expects daily footfalls to touch around one lakh, once the terminal becomes fully functional. “We are targeting completion of the terminal by October-end, but it could take a little longer too.
This road, however, is crucial for decongesting the traffic here.” Asked about the timeline, another BBMP official mentioned it could take long. “Land needs to be acquired first for the roads. The Railway Over Bridge above Mukunda Theatre has to be widened and much infrastructure work needs to be carried out at Baiyappanahalli village as well. Defence land needs to be asked for again, in order to widen the Old Madras Road,” he added.

The present Maruthi Seva Nagar bridge is the bottleneck and the reason for traffic jam as it s very narrow. It is long back ago recommended for demolition and reconstruction. Now the requirement is towards BYPL also. As it is in Bangalore, it will happen definitely even though delayed. ROB over BYPL railway gate is going on. Little slow due to present condition.

OCT is just few days away. Even December is difficult, may be without proper facilities need to start.

Banasawadi side nearby, walkable from MS Nagar/Indian Oil bus stop. But with luggage it is very difficult. Share autos are available under the bridge towards Old Madras Road.

Chance is very remote. After bifurcation of Kannur/Karwar Express

Mangalore lost many seats as the 16511/17 has less coaches.

Now beyond Mangalore also lost Mysore connectivity.

Meagre allocation in budget for prioritised projects such as doubling works, Nemom
terminal
Kerala has suffered a setback on the rail front with the Union budget providing only paltry
allocation forits prioritised projects, which include completion of doubling of the
Ettumanur-Kottayam
...
and Kottayam-Chingavanam corridors, Thiruvananthapuram
Central-Kanyakumari line, and the coaching terminal at Nemom.
The Pink Book of Railways, which catalogues works to be executed this year and spells out
allocations , shows that the priorities of the Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad rail
divisions and the wish list submitted by the State government for development of the rail
network have been ignored.
Bias against State
The ‘discrimination’ of the State is evident as doubling works in Tamil Nadu have received
₹700 crore. Karnataka also has received a substantial allocation.
Forthe ₹500 crore sought for completing the doubling of the Ettumanur-Kottayam and
Kottayam-Chingavanam corridors, Thiruvananthapuram Central- Kanyakumari line, and
the coaching terminal at Nemom, the allocation given is ₹93.50 crore.
With this outlay, railway officials say only the doubling via Kottayam can be completed
partially by arranging another ₹12 crore sanctioned for other works this year. A sum of ₹200
crore is needed for completing the doubling up to Ernakulam in December 2021.
Against ₹300 crore sought for doubling of the rail line to Kanyakumari, the allocation
provided is ₹5 crore and ₹128.50 crore through extra budgetary resources (loan from LIC).Doubling non-starter
Officials say doubling works will be confined to paper as land acquisition cost alone will
come to ₹700 crore. The government has sought ₹207 crore from Railways for acquiring
14.80 ha for doubling 7 km from Thiruvananthapuram Central to Nemom and forthe
coaching terminal. The funds from the EBR can be taken only afterland is acquired forthe
project.
A sum of ₹50 lakh has been provided forthe coaching terminal at Nemom from the
“umbrella project head’ of Southern Railway.
The doubling of 18.3 km from Ambalappuzha to Haripad has got an outlay of ₹13.95 crore .
Token provision has been given for patch doubling of Ernakulam-Kumbalam, KumbalamTuravur, Turavur-Ambalappuzha, and Shoranur-Ernakulam third line underthe head
doubling.
The demand for splitting intermediate block sections (IBS) of Alappuzha-Ambalappuzha
(12 km) and Thurvavur-Kumbalam (17 km) for handling more trains has been ignored. But,
IBS has been approved for Kumbalam-Manjeswaram, Tikkottui-Vadakara, and VadakaraMahe. Additional platform at the Kannur station and automated coach washing facility at
Ernakulam and Kochuveli have found place.
Complete track renewal, through railrenewal and turnoutrenewal, has been given funds.
Road safety works pertaining to level crossings, road overbridges and road underbridges,
and funds for creating facilities in workshops and production lines have got outlay.
