उत्तर प्रदेश में राम की नगरी अयोध्या में राम मंदिर के निर्माण के साथ साथ वहां का कायाकल्प भी हो रहा है। इस बीच उत्तर रेलवे के जीएम आशुतोष गंगल ने कहा कि, जल्द ही फैजाबाद रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम अयोध्या कैंट रेलवे स्टेशन रखा जाएगा। नाम बदलने को लेकर फैजाबाद के सांसद लल्लू सिंह के द्वारा उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य सरकार को पत्र लिखकर मांग की गई थी।
उत्तर रेलवे के जीएम आशुतोष गंगल ने जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि, अयोध्या में फेज एक और फेज दो दोनों का कार्य होना है। फेज एक का कार्य काफी आगे चल रहा है। जीएम उत्तर रेलव ने उत्कृष्ट कार्य करने वाली आरपीएफ कॉन्स्टेबल विनीता कुमारी समेत रेलवे के अन्य कर्मचारियों/अधिकारियों को भी सम्मानित किया।

गंगल ने कहा कि राज्य सरकार के उच्च अधिकारियों से वार्ता हुई थी। यूपी सरकार ने भूमि के लिए आश्वस्त कर दिया गया है कि, फेज 2 के लिए पहला फेज पूरा करने का टारगेट जून तक है। फेज 2 के लिए रेलवे बोर्ड को प्रस्ताव दे दिया है। उस पर भी कार्य कर रहे हैं। फैजाबाद में भी मन्दिर निर्माण के बाद का कॉन्सेप्ट डेवलप कर लिया है।
पूर्व सांसद लल्लू सिंह ने भेजा था नाम बदलने का प्रस्ताव
रेलवे के अनुसार सेक्शन का निरीक्षण किया है, स्पीड ट्रायल किया है।100 किमी से ऊपर की स्पीड का अच्छी राइड मिली है। वहीं डबलिंग और इलेक्ट्रिफिकेशन मुख्य है जो कि, दिसम्बर 2023 तक जौनपुर का पूरा होगा। अयोध्या में पहले फेज में 15 हजार के आसपास तो वहीं फेज 2 में एक लाख का तीर्थ यात्रियों का फुटफॉल बड़े धार्मिक कार्यों के लिए तैयार किया जा रहा हैं।
कहा कि, फैजाबाद रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम बदलने को राज्य सरकार को प्रस्ताव भेजा है। नाम बदलने को लेकर अयोध्या के सांसद लल्लू का सुझाव था। राज्य सरकार की अनुमति मिलते ही नाम बदला जाएगा। अयोध्या कैंट रेलवे स्टेशन नाम रखने का प्रस्ताव है। उन्होंने कहा कि अयोध्या से सटे जिला दरियाबाद बाराबंकी पर ट्रायल, फेज 2 में स्टेशन पर सुविधाएं बढ़ाने का प्रस्ताव है।

Umm.. what original name? Fyzabad was built from scratch in the 1700s. It has no historical connection to Ayodhya.

It was a small fort constructed by a Nawab that was later developed into a township and finally merged with Ayodhya mucipality in recent years.

The more accurate thing to say is that Indraprastha was located roughly in the same location as Delhi today. But the modern day Delhi is completely unrelated to the ancient Indraprastha or Hastinapur. The city was destroyed or abandoned multiple times in history, with many different rulers building and naming their own cities in roughly the same area. Indraprastha was also a pre-historic name and wasn't in use by an medieval rulers.

The modern day Delhi has been continuously in occupation since the 1200's.

The country’s first centralised AC railway terminal is all set to come up in Bengaluru.
South Western Railway (SWR) officials said Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru (Byappanahalli Third Coaching Terminal) will be ready by the end of February. “At present, only a few spaces like retiring rooms at railway stations are air-conditioned, but this terminal will have centralised AC system. This will offer an airport-like experience for rail passengers,” said E Vijaya, chief public relations officer, SWR.

The Byappanahalli terminal’s facade is designed on the lines of Bengaluru airport.
Currently, 164 pairs of express trains and 109 pairs of passenger trains are being operated from KSR Bengaluru City and Yeshwantpur terminals. The new terminal, which was sanctioned in 2015-16, is expected to help SWR operate more trains from Bengaluru. Work on the terminal, which was supposed to be completed in December 2018, missed several deadlines.
The Rs 314-crore station building of 4,200sqm will cater to a daily footfall of 50,000. The terminal has seven platforms apart from eight stabling lines and three pit lines. Every day, 50 trains can be operated from the terminal.
Better amenities
The terminal will have parking facilities for 250 cars, 900 two-wheelers, 50 autorickshaws, five BMTC buses and 20 cabs. “The terminal will have upper-class waiting hall, VIP lounge with digital real-time passenger information system and food court. The escalators and lifts will connect seven platforms to facilitate passenger movement. Foot over-bridge along with two subways will link all platforms,” said an official. A water recycling plant of 4 lakh-litre capacity will be installed.
However, poor accessibility to the terminal might inconvenience passengers. “We are excited about a new terminal with airport-like facilities. This will decongest KSR Bengaluru and Yeshwantpur railway station. But major concerns are poor road and public transport connectivity,” said rail enthusiast Abhishek R.

But why to bypass the city? Pretty much all of the trains listed are used by people going to Bangalore only. Diverting them to run so far from the city would remove options for passengers.

For example, MAS-SSPN is mainly used by MAS-SBC passengers and runs practically empty after that. Bypassing through KJM/Chikkabanavara is understandable, but bypassing through Gauribidanur-Bangarpet is a tad too much.

Well, people still take Seshadri even though they lose the entire day. Given the lack of options, they'll opt for anything.

And unless some RSA arrangements are made, NS/CCT trains cannot have late evening departure/early morning arrival at Bangalore. So, until then, these are the only options.

I am not against bypassing Bangalore. I already mentioned this in my post, by saying that passing through KJM/BAW is ok. What I meant was bypassing through BWT-CBP-GBD (if that route is constructed) seems too much.

BWT/CBP/GBD are way too far from the city and poorly connected to act as a bypass stations.

a train taking the JTJ-SBC/KJM - GTL route is running through that route solely for giving a Bangalore connection. Otherwise, there is no point of running trains to Guntakal via JTJ in a roundabout route. For trains coming from CBE side, the SA-Hosur-BYPL line is a shorter route, and for trains from AJJ/KPD side, the route via RU or PAK is the shorter one (and also has TPTY, which always draws a lot of passengers). So, I felt there is no point in running via JTJ, BWT and then running via CBP to GBD completely avoiding BWT.

The Fog pass device doesn't just identify signals. It gives indications for a whole range of landmarks like warning boards, TSR/PSR locations, engineering restriction areas etc.

Loco pilots, no matter how experienced, are not superhumans, to remember the position of every signal on the route (and there will be hundreds of signals, many with different aspects). Especially signals in the middle of nowhere, far from stations and with no landmarks near them, are more difficult to remember when an LP is running a train for hours on end.

Engineering restrictions on every route also change daily. Whenever an LP is starting a journey, they are given documents indicating the locations of speed restrictions, engineering restrictions and potential issues (non-functional signals, repairs etc) that are in place at that time. These things can be at various locations along the route, and it is unrealistic for an LP to easily identify all the locations. The Fog pass devices make it easier to realize when the LP is approaching these restrictions by giving distance callouts all the time.

They are indeed useful devices for LPs. They are being procured in large numbers because the staff find them useful. Please don't dismiss such things without looking into the details.

VSKP's name was not changed. Waltair and VSKP were twin towns. As time progressed, both towns grew and Waltair became a part of Visakhapatnam. Today, Waltair is a suburb of VSKP.

There were two stations in VSKP until 1964. The present day VSKP station was called Waltair Jn (WAT), and a short distance from WAT, there was another station named 'Visakhapatnam Town (VZT)'. In 1964, the VZT station was closed as the city had grown and the most of the inhabitants moved to the north, towards the Waltair area.

A few years later, the Waltair station was renamed as Visakhapatnam as Waltair had now become a suburb of VSKP and VSKP was the main city.

The Competent authority has accorded sanction to ” Belagavi-Dharwad via Kittur New Line Project (73 Km)” at a cost of Rs.927.40 Cr (Rupees nine hundred twenty seven crone and forty lakh only) included in Budget 2019-20 under the Umbrella Work of New Lines.

train line between Dharwad and Belagavi has been the long standing demand of people of North Karnataka. The present Rail connectivity between these two important cities through Londa junction is circuitous route. The time taken for Rail travel is approximately 3 hrs.
Though earlier the initial survey was done in 2013-14, as the proposal was not approved then, it was decided to take up fresh survey. The work was entrusted to K-RIDE The survey was completed in record time of two years.
With this new line the distance between the three Important cities Hubballi, Dharwad and Belagavi will reduce resulting in significant development. Running time of trains between Hubballi to Belagavi will also reduce
The New BG line will have following stations i.e. 1) Belagavi 2) Desur 3) Kanvikarvinkoppa 4) Bagewadi 5) M.K. Hubballi 6) Hulikatti 7) Kittur 8) Teguru 9) Mammigatti 10) Kyarakoppa 11) Dharwad
For this new line State Government of Karnataka has committed to provide land free of cost and share 50, cost of construction Upcoming Industrial Corridor of Belgaum — Kittur- Dharwad will be benefitted from this line.
The existing alignment passes through difficult terrain in Western Ghat via Londa which increases the journey time. Presently Mumbai- Bangalore fastest trains take around 21 hours as they follow the circuitous route via Guntakal This new line will save about 3 hours of journey time between the two important commercial centers.
11 stations inbetween Belagavi and Dharwad.
Land for the project will be handed over to Railways free of cost by the State Government of Karnataka and the construction cost of the project will be shared as 50:50 between Railway and State Government of Karnataka. Railways share is chargeable to Extra Budgetary Resources (EBR-IF). 3. This issue with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.

Railway, being a public transport system, has to balance between accessibility and speed. The deviation from the shortest route in this case is most likely to serve these places (based on local traffic demands).

The difference in this case is hardly 5 km. So, they will prefer to cover more places with a small increase in the distance.

This doesn't mean that there will be sharp curves on the alignment. The map you see is only a bird's eye view of the alignment and is too zoomed out to show the actual small turns.

Look at the Hubli-Londa route in the same image. It is shown as a smooth line, whereas in reality the route is full of sharp turns. So, don't take this as an exact alignment of the tracks.

Turns themselves are not the problem for high speed runs. There are many high speed routes with large turns and trunk routes like MAS-HWH, MAS-NDLS etc have a few places where the tracks curve around almost by 90 degress. But these are very wide curves and are properly canted so that trains can run on them at MPS. At a first glance, it appears that something similar will be done in this case too.

And most importantly, a small deviation of 5km to cover more places would always be preferred as railways need to optimize coverage and speed.
