Decades old platform berths at the Puraani Dilli will be gone with a New Platform number. Which means the existing platform number 18 will be rechristened as platform number one and the existing platform number 1A will be platform no 16. The numbering of the platform beginning September 5, 2011 will be on the pattern of New Delhi Railway Station and both will have 16 platforms each. Northern Railway officials said that the rearrangement has been done to handle 24 coach trains at each platform. The Fatehpuri side main entrance of the Delhi Junction will have the revised platform no 1, while towards platform no 16 will be at the Kashmere Gate end side.
